Happy Friday!
Today I will be attending my nephew Jared and his new bride, Clarissa’s, wedding! Whoop! Whoop!
Gonna be a grand celebration from what I understand. Lots of planning. Lots of family on both sides. Food. Drinks. Dancing. Laughter. Perfect in every way.
I’ll take pictures and share next week. Super excited.
I also arrived in Sacramento with 2 of the best smoked meatloaves on the planet prepared by neighbors and friends, Trent and Susan.
My mom had instructed me I would not get off the plane and get a ride unless I had the meatloaves with me! HA!
Trent and Susan gladly made that request happen. So I did get off the plane and I did get a ride and we all ate smoked meatloaf sandwiches on fresh baked bread from the Nugget the night of my arrival.
So incredibly good. I’ll share Trent’s recipe soon with his permission. It’ll blow you away!
STEPHANIE’S CHIC ON THE CHEAP terrific info (as always). Don’t throw out those favorite pair of jeans! Nope. Waist extender button to the rescue.
That! And her quick, resourceful find of a … spoonful of ice cream in the morning coffee cup. HELLO! New Coffee buddy in my world!
FRESH SAUTEED CORN is a simple side wow-wee!
QUICK QUESTION – who are the people in your life that most understand you …
Hands down – my mom and sisters.
Lotta love, sweat, tears and years. Time machine. Laughter. Memories. We can pretty much read each others’ thoughts before words are even spoken.
And remembering the good old days never fails to break us out into giant laughter – time and time again!
5 songs chosen for today are beautiful.
Thanks for giving us a piece of your Friday to share and sharing your thoughts back. Valuable.
QUICK QUESTION
WHO ARE THE PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE THAT REALLY UNDERSTAND YOU?
STEPHANIE’S
CHIC ON THE CHEAP
Hey Hey Hey!
I still have in my closet many pairs of my favorite jeans from years past.
They still fit fine except … the waist. I’m still an inch larger there.
I have tried the little trick where you loop a hair band through the button hole and then hook it to the button — but it just didn’t feel sturdy enough and a little too stretch AND my zipper wouldn’t stay up.
I discovered (about a year ago) these jean waist extender buttons!
SEE PIC #1
They work beautifully and my zipper stays up!
You can cover the double button with a belt or just wear a top that covers them.
I truly love wearing my old, favorite jeans now. Because of the ease and comfort of the waist extender button.
Find these waist extenders on Amazon for under $10.
Next, what I want to talk about has nothing to do with fashion tips – but I must share!
Last week I made my morning coffee, went to grab my creamer out of the ‘fridge and it was empty. PANIC.
What can I substitute for creamer? Hmmm …
I opened the freezer door and there sits a carton of chocolate chip mint ice cream.
I’m gonna try this, I thought. So I added a spoonful to my coffee cup. It even frothed up as I stirred it in.
I took the first sip and the lyrics to my favorite Tom Petty song jumped in my head, “Oh, my my — Oh, hell yeah …”
It wasn’t too minty or too sweet. It was perfect!
What’s a few spoonfuls of ice cream a day going to hurt? Right?!
If I do gain a pound or two — I can still always fit in my favorite jeans with the waist extender button! LOL
Have a great weekend!
See ya next time.

FRESH CORN
sauteed
Summertime magic! Canned corn does not work – only fresh off the cob.
10 ears of corn on the cob, shucked and washed clean
6 TBSP butter
salt and fresh ground pepper
couple little pinches of sugar
Carefully shear kernels of corn off the cobs with a sharp knife.
In a skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat. Add corn kernels, salt and pepper, sugar and saute for approximately 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve on the side with slices of grilled beef, chicken or fish. Add a little butter lettuce salad sprinkled with a favorite vinaigrette for a pop of color and extra fresh delish to Supper’s Ready!
