EASTER WEEKEND GREETINGS!
We’ve got a super line-up of Bunny Art, Inspiration, Tanning Tips, Unique Egg Salad Recipe and Pineapple question on this Good Friday.

Beginning with:

STEPHANIE’S CHIC ON THE CHEAP
Fabulous self-tanner tips if you don’t wanna crawl into a tanning bed *ahem* which I am guilty of and have been doing too many years to count.  I need to change my ways and Steph’s column today is how I’m gonna start.  These 2 products she writes about and presents absolutely intrigue me in that I can still be suntan Cheryl but in a much safer, healthier way.

As always, Steph, your easy doable tips of FASHION + DIY ART + INDOOR/OUTDOOR DECORATING + MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL BEAUTY are so cutting-edge and who-knew? until we read it from you.  We look forward to your columns on how to jazz-up ourselves and living environments to a higher, even more exciting level!  Thank ya.

QUICK QUESTION
Does pineapple belong on pizza.  Well — not necessarily for me.
I absolutely remember way back in the day when I was working my first job as a Pizza Hut waitress in high school (Yep, for those of you who don’t remember — Pizza Hut was both a dine-in restaurant and carry out) the Hawaiian Pizza = Canadian Bacon + canned pineapple chunks debuted and was a HUGE deal.  I would guess 7 outta 10 pizza orders included a Hawaiian pizza.  I think it must still be super popular as I see it on pizza menus.  Me, personally, have never been all the way in to climb aboard the train of hot or warm pineapple.  You?

STARFISH STORY
Stole my heart.  So beautiful.  I so wanna gift myself with a purchased starfish (unlikely I’ll be beach combing in the near future to stumble on and collect one right from the sands of a beach – although it would be awesome) and place that starfish somewhere in my home to remind me of the power of this meaningful story.  “Mattered to that one,” said the old man and continued on.  POW!

EGG SALAD RECIPE WITH PEAS
Is a winner-winner-winner!  And whether or not you’ll have so many beautifully dyed Easter eggs calling out for a something-something delightful recipe to turn them in to or maybe just a grand idea to go ahead and make them without an egg hunt — this recipe is for you.  Gotta trust me – unless you don’t care for green peas …

THANKS SO MUCH
All for sharing a slice of your day with us and being part of the Daymaker Readable Art Community.  Blessings.

STEPHANIE’S
CHIC ON THE CHEAP

Hey Hey!

Well, it’s that time of year to start thinking about adding a little color to our skin to show off our bronze arms and legs in our spring and summer clothes!

Last year at about this time I shared with you all a tanning gel made by  Nu Skin called Sunright Insta Glow.  I have used this for years and I still stand behind it – especially if you want an overnight instant tan.

However, I am trying a new tanning product this year because Bailey … one of my co-workers came in a few weeks ago with beautifully tanned arms.  I thought she’d had a professional spray tan done.

She told me she was using a new brightening, gradual tanning lotion called Tanologist that is a gradual tanning lotion that slowly darkens your skin day by day versus a quick, instant tan like NU SKIN Sunright will give us.

A lot of people are more comfortable gradually darkening their skin day by day because of the fear of getting too dark all at once.

Bailey is very fair skinned and prefers to have light-to-medium bronzed skin.

A friend of Bailey’s told her to buy the medium-to-dark Tanologist and mix it half and half with her regular body lotion and it will dilute the color to a light-to-medium bronze.

The Daily Glow Tanologist has very little smell but when you mix it with your own body lotion you get the scent you want.  (This should be applied daily and once you achieve your desired level of darkness — apply your mixture every 2-3 days.)

Ulta sells Tanologist and you can also find it on Amazon.  NU SKIN can be purchased from a private NU SKIN distributor, but you can also find it on Amazon.

Tanologist is around $10.  NU SKIN is around $25.

PIC #1
Picture of both products.  I really like both of these products.  Cost wise I think Tanologist is a better deal.  But I like having NU SKIN on hand just in case I need a quick overnight tan and NU SKIN lasts 4-5 days.

PIC #2
Tanologist medium-to-dark toned lotion mixed half and half with my favorite body lotion on one arm after 4 applications – applied once a day for 4 days – compared to the other arm with no tanning lotion.

The difference in color shows up more in person, but you can see in the photo that my arm at the bottom is darker.

HAPPY HEALTHY TANNING!

QUICK QUESTION

DOES PINEAPPLE BELONG
ON A PIZZA?

THE STARFISH STORY

So the story goes like this —

A young man is walking along the ocean and sees a beach which hundreds and hundreds of starfish have washed ashore.

Further along he sees an old man stooping often, picking up one starfish after another and tossing them gently into the ocean.

The young man asks, “Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?”

The old man replies, “Because the sun is up and the tide is going out and if I don’t throw them further in they will die.”

“But, old man, don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it!  You can’t possibly save them all, you can’t even save one-tenth of them.  In fact, your efforts won’t make any difference at all.”

The old man listened calmly and then bent down to pick up another starfish and gently tossed it into the sea.

“Made a difference to that one.”  the old man replied and continued on.

EGG SALAD WITH DILL AND PEAS
for sandwich making, crackers or scooped on top of a lettuce salad

The first time I tasted egg salad with the combo of dill and peas is when I purchased it from Central Market’s giant prepared-in-house food case of offerings – yeah, that Central Market which is bar none in my humble opinion.  It was so incredible!  I knew I had to recreate it at home because Central Market is nowhere close to my neck of the woods.  So I did.  And we also served it as a special during the summer months at Hippie Cowboy.  Customers were wild about it.  Egg salad sandwiches with dill on their own are fabulous.  BUT add the peas.  ‘nough said.  Gotta-gotta-gotta give this recipe a spin!  One bite after bite — you’ll be hooked.

HERE’S HOW WE MAKE IT

  • 8 large hard boiled eggs, peeled and chopped in small chunks
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup fresh dill, minced OR 1 TBSP * Lighthouse brand* freeze dried Dill (my go-to)
  • 2 TBSP finely chopped celery
  • 1 cup frozen green peas, thawed
  • 2 TBSP Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp salt + 1/2 tsp pepper (or to your taste)

NOW ASSEMBLE IN A MEDIUM-SIZED BOWL

  1. Hard boiled egg chunks
  2. Mayo
  3. Dill
  4. Celery
  5. Peas
  6. Dijon
  7. Salt and Pepper

Gently fold/mix all until combined with a rubber spatula and let mingle together for about an hour in the ‘fridge for the dill to work its magic.

SERVE

As a sandwich between 2 slices of super soft bread, on crackers or as a green salad topper.

Thrilled to get Steph’s recommendations for self-tanning! I’ve shied away from such products because of undesirable results in the past – think orange! – but will certainly try Steph’s proven compounds. Thank you Steph!

Pineapple on pizza? NO WAY! Tried it, didn’t like it.

Do love the starfish story. An act can make a difference.

The egg salad with peas recipe is intriguing – quirky enough to be terrific.

And the art, of course, is fabulous!

    Happy weekend!

      Hi Carol!

Agree, Steph’s column is always one that offers great tips. And self-tanning recommendations is definitely winner-winner column.

High five to NO WAY to pineapple on pizza! Should that be the only pizza in the room, fortunate for others – because there will be an extra slice or 2 available as we both pass. Ha

Yep, to starfish story and that the egg salad with peas is intriguing. I hope ya give it a try and let us know what you think. Bet a dollar that you will not only be intrigued but hooked!

Thanks, friend, for reading + sharing + caring.

      So very appreciated and valuable.

Regarding Daymaker Recipe: I love egg salad sandwiches providing it’s served on RYE MARBLE bread. Oh Yum! As for the peas in the recipe? Well, Ok, I will take the plunge and try it on ONE sandwich. You certainly built my confidence when you said your restaurant customers loved it. I’ll keep you posted.

  3. Marty says:
