Hey, Hey! Happy Friday. Hope you had a terrific week. I’ve been doing a lot of “leaf control” around here. Raking them, sweeping them and scooping them out of the pool.
I remember when we first bought this house 28 years ago, we loved all of the trees. The realtor was not in love with trees. I asked him why. And he said, “Leaves in the fall! There will be a lot.”
Indeed, there are a lot, but it’s so worth the trade off of not having trees at all. If only leaves were worth money … I’d be sipping a drink with an umbrella in it on my own private island. Ha!
I picked out a cool pumpkin with a long stem for dining room table decoration. Really great part is it gets to stay until Thanksgiving. It’s not for carving. Just going to let it naturally be the beautiful, original piece that it is.
Check out these cool retro/vintage-ish plastic pumpkins I scored at a thrift/antique store. And, yep, they light up! They make me feel happy when I look at them.
I love it when businesses decorate for holidays. This is one of my favorite local Tex-Mex restaurants. Shout out to Tio Tony’s for their love and energy in the Halloween decorations. Hat tip.
Truth fun yard sign spotting on a walk!
I broke out the panini machine and made the Wrangler sandwich. It’s sooooo good. Playlist of five – sweet sounds for a grand Friday. Hope you have a chance to give it a listen. Thanks for being here!
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WISH YOU HAD DONE DIFFERENTLY TODAY?
WRANGLER HOT SANDWICH
This sandwich will not disappoint. From the menu at Hippie Cowboy Cafe. So good. If you have a panini machine. Great! If not, no problem, toast-melt-turn in a skillet. Ya know, like we did grilled cheese style before panini machine was in our kitchen arsenal, or vocabulary.
Assemble the following ingredients on super great sliced bread (my personal favorite is sourdough).
- Sliced deli ham of choice
- crispy slices of bacon
- sharp cheddar
- plenty of shakes of green tabasco sauce
Toast via skillet or panini machine. After sandwich is finished with the toast and melt, gently peel it apart and add:
- a generous layer of guacamole
- fresh sliced tomato
- butter lettuce pieces
Serve with a cute little bag of chips or a handful from a big bag.
