WEDNESDAY READER | JANUARY 4

Day 4 of 2023.  How’s the New Year so far?  Good here.  I took my Christmas down.  All packed up and ready to travel to the storage unit where it will wait until next year to come back home to bring ornamental magic and beauty.

Thanks for being here.

May 2023 be a year of wonder + awe + success + for + all.

Greetings – I trust you are feeling the magic and uniqueness that this time of year has to offer.  Open yourselves and your heart – the magic and uniqueness will find you.  It does me.

I’m getting ready to travel to Sacramento to be with family for Christmas.  My flight is on Christmas Eve day.  Super looking forward to being with my people.

My second Christmas without Peter.  But love from and to family and friends and a little time make it better and better.

As always, I thank you for your support in reading Daymaker Readable Art.  All blessings.

5 for FRIDAY | DECEMBER 9

Greetings friends –

Christmas!  What’s happening around your home/world right now in preparation?

First Bell Ringer sighting!  She graciously posed for the pic.  (I feel super bad – me the name rememberer – has lost her name in my head right now.  Big fat boo on me!  Anyway, look at how cool she has dressed for her shift!  And she had music + was moving + ringing the hand bells.  She brought me great joy.  I always strive to put a buck or two in the kettle whenever I see a Bell Ringer or at the very least all the spare change I have on me.

My Rubber Tree Plant (I lost from leaving it outside one day too long) gives me one last smile of joy – decorated with a string of red twinkle lights and a vintage Santa I found years ago at a thrift store for, if I remember correctly, was $45 dollars.  SCORE.  I treasure this Santa piece.

Now that Thanksgiving and all the great food + family time + memories are tucked away,  It’s Christmastime!

There are those who have called me the Queen of Christmas decorations.  I have half a storage unit full of Christmas coolness:  different colors and heights of trees, strings of lights, stunning, vintage gold balls that my great Aunt Suzy willed me, one-of-a-kind thrift store finds of retro pieces that plug in and illuminate, Hunter’s sweet ornaments from when he was in K-2nd grade (priceless!) and boxes and boxes of many other treasured Christmas pieces.

This year, I down sized as far as how much I put up.  Although downsized it’s still super pretty and memories smile as I pass the decorations and lights throughout the house.

I love this time of year.  An undeniable, irresistible magic.

Here’s the fun list of 12 for this grand Monday.  Enjoy!

5 for FRIDAY | NOVEMBER 25

Happy day after Thanksgiving – hope your Thanksgiving was warm and filled with friends / family / food / laughter / memory stories and heart.  Mine was.  Traveled to visit my beautiful family in Sacramento and we totally had a blast, telling stories, sharing laughter and eating a lot!  All the usual suspects!

Raise your hand if you are or did go out to shop the “Black Friday” sales.  Me, nope.  Hanging out with those of us who did not go out to shop and making executive decisions (ha) what we can create with the all the leftovers.

A few pics from our yesterday when it was in full swing production.

Thanksgiving is just right over there.  As in tomorrow.  Do ya have your menu planned?  Invited to go somewhere?  I’ll be in California hanging with family.  Pretty sure I won’t get a pass helping in the kitchen.  Ha!  We’re all gathering at my sister, Lisa, and her husband, Curtis’ home.

I can hear Lisa now, “Apron’s in the bottom drawer, you can start chopping veggies for the stuffing and you’re in charge of mashed potatoes.  Everyone loves your mashed potatoes.”  She’s such a charmer.  Ha!

Happy Thanksgiving!  I am thankful for your support by being here and hanging out with us and telling friends and family.

Hello wondrous Readers.

Well, Thanksgiving is just-right-over-there.  3 short days away.  Are you ready?

I travel to Folsom, California to be with family.  Super looking forward to it.  My sister, Lisa, and her husband, Curtis, are hosting all 14 of us at their home.

There will be smoked ham (hat tip, Chris), smoked turkey (xx Jared) and a whole lotta everything else (thanks, Jayde, Curtis, Lisa, Jennie, Mom, Cooper and moi).  Totally a family gathering in the preparation and then around the table.

5 FOR FRIDAY | NOVEMBER 11

Greetings friends,

Yesterday was Veteran’s Day.  See a Veteran thank that Veteran.  That’s how I do it (actually, not just on Veteran’s day – but especially today).  So grateful for their fearlessness and sacrifices.

((a little inside scoop … I’m actually writing this post on the 13th
because I wanted to include what I did for Veteran’s day.  Hope yours was good +  filled with pride for our wonderful Veterans.))

I traveled to Bastrop, a cool little town just outside of Austin to hang out with my friend Johnny.  We went to the Heroes and Hot Rods car show which lined the streets of downtown, had dinner at Storehouse – a charming dining place with amazing food and a signature drink called the Bramble that was fantastic, and enjoyed a super chill time.
