5 For Friday May 31

5 for FRIDAY | MAY 31

Friday greetings this last day of May 2024. May is going out - at least around here - with lots and lots and lots of rain.  Seems like a crazy amount of rain, but probably last year was similar.  Last May seems so far away.  Ha Stacy's World Will be back next Friday - fingers crossed - depending on her busy schedule.  I've had conversations with her and her upcoming columns/ideas are SO.MUCH.COOL.FUN. (!!) Today's 5 for FRIDAY is a blast! BEGINNING WITH: Amazing flower artwork and "made ya laugh" cartoons. QUICK QUESTION What's the strangest room or building I've ever been in/to? I could name several working on jobs in the film business:  A giant Masonic Scottish Rite Temple, Haunted Mansion where a doctor lived equipped with an elevator that just decided to go up and down on its own, non-working Kentucky prison from the early 1800s.   And a rental house that my sister, Jennie, and I lived at way back in the day. However, the strangest, creepiest one was in an old, working Tennessee prison where we were shooting the film "Last Dance." On a scout (meaning the entire crew was not present) we were scouting the various places in the prison we would be shooting.  The warden took us down to this room which housed "Old Sparky" -  as he referred to it.  An old, heavy wooden chair that had char marks on it + other dark spots on it and leather tie down straps for arms and ankles.  Yeah, it was a real deal electric chair.  Observation glass windows, bright lights over the chair.  There was even a bucket of water behind the chair for whatever they used that for (use your imagination - or perhaps you may remember the movie "The Green Mile"). The warden said, "Anybody want to sit in the chair?" One of the grips grinned all tough like, said, "Yeah," and he sat down. The warden nodded to someone behind the observation glass and the lights flipped on and off.  That grip flew off that chair faster than a bolt of lightning.  Scared the tar out of him. The warden laughed hard.  Guess it was one of their little pranks they play for amusement to dough-heads who volunteer to actually sit in "Old Sparky." That room was super surreal - but very real.  I'll never forget it.  Yours? FLIGHT ATTENDANTS' HUMOR

Hola! Bonjour! Howdy! Wednesday greetings, friends!  Midweek is here and Friday and the weekend are just 2 short days away! Great line up to share today beginning with: LESLIE ELMAN'S TRIVIA BITS POP QUIZ I knew 1 outta 3 and now I know 3 outta 3 and you will too.  We just got schooled (in a good way) and feel "light bulb" brighter/smarter! QUICK QUESTION Me, my favorite junk food *gasp*  is Doritos Nacho Cheese chips.  I'd eat myself sick on them if left unattended.  Ha. However, I rarely keep them in my house.  When working on Set I used to grab a little bag from the Craft Service table and pop that bad boy open and savor!  You? K9-ALITIES Had me laughing out loud! RECIPE FOR COLD SESAME NOODLES Is TDF!  It's so. so. so. so. good.  Did I mention good?  It's outstanding.  And, yes, leftovers are the dreams of midnight snack attacks! FINDER'S KEEPERS WREATH

TOP OF THE MORNING | APRIL 29

Happy hello Monday + outstanding readers! We've had plenty of "not messin' around" rain here in my part of the world over the weekend. Thunder!  Big time thunder that was the background BOOMS (!) to the sky opening up with hardcore rain falling.  I actually like the sound of thunder.  My cats not so much.  My sister, Jennie, not somuch.  You? Super cool collection to present today for your enjoyment! Beginning with: REMOTE CONTROL SAVING DEVICE!  Wow! Should I get in trouble in the water I want this super fast device coming to my aid lickety-split! PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR UNDERWEAR WHEN THEY TRAVEL BLEW my mind short read. 2 live SNAKES?!  Yikes. I actually lost my luggage on Christmas Eve a couple years ago.  The planes didn't take off - as in with passengers - but my luggage did somehow.  Mine and hundreds and hundreds of others. I was in line a week later with others trying to locate our bags and the couple behind me told me that their luggage had the husband's famous family recipe of a giant brisket in the suitcase to take for Christmas. Uhhhh.  Wonder how that worked out. But 2 live SNAKES! GIRAFFE GETS MUCH NEEDED HELP FROM A CHIROPRACTOR Stole my heart.  I love this Chiropractor/Doctor who helps animals and people.  Why wouldn't animals need "adjustments" same as us? CASTLES!  HERE IN THE U.S.?!  I totally wanna go see one/walk through it.  Amazing.

TOP OF THE MORNING | FEBRUARY 19

Monday greetings magnificent readers! How was your weekend?  All good here - save the part where I had to snap my self outta the spring-like temps and drip the faucets again and prepare for some more frigid temps - as in 26 degrees over night, two nights in a row.  Brrrrr!!! Super fun Monday collection to share today - First up is CICADAS ARE COMING but with dual emergence.  Is this the part where we might say YIKES!? Being from Montana - we didn't have Cicadas - however, now living in the land of Texas I've always enjoyed their rhythmic sound.  To me, it's "the sound of summer." BACKYARD SMALL PATIO IDEAS are pretty darn outstanding.  And should a project like this be on your home to-do bucket list - now's a perfect time to start planning ahead before summer's furnace is full throttle.  Cool ideas to choose + create an outdoor living space just for you and yours. Totally love SMART MOM'S LIST OF ADD-ON CHORES for babysitter to make a little extra dough while the kids are sleeping and waiting for the parents to come home.  Back in the day when I was babysitting - I would have taken smart mom up on her list and accomplished all on the list for $.  Brilliant idea smart mom. TIMELESS CUTENESS is just that and more -- timeless beauties that brought to me smile-smile-smile.  Whole lotta joy in the captured pieces of another time, another place of others.   Hope you have a few minutes to give them a scroll-through. RECIPES!

Beginning with -- CREATIVE CHRISTMAS TREE ideas I don't have a favorite.  They're all blue ribbon original greatness to me. INTERESTING PHOTOS is better than scrolling through whatever's on Google feed today.  Can you believe how GIANT the anchor chain of the Titanic was?  Or how thick one (just one) of the cables is that holds up the Golden Gate Bridge?  Crazy! OFFICE ANTICS had me smiling big time.  Pretty sure offices could sure use some harmless fun to keep the 9-5 shift a little more interesting. AI VISUALIZING ALL 50 U.S. STATES as Hunger Game contestants had me scrolling through -- first of all with my home state and my now home state and checking out states my friends live in or came from.  Pretty spot on. RECIPES! HOMEMADE MARSHMALLOWS still time to "whip up" something special in the kitchen for gift giving or impress guests during this "brrr time" of year.  Wonder how these homemade marshmallows would work with the favorite Rice Krispie Treats?  It's a must read through the entire recipe to see all the cool variations etc ... super interesting.

Greetings Monday and friends - Another excellent line up today! Beginning with: THE KALEIDOSCOPE LIGHT One of the most amazing, small plug-it-in light shows to have being all magic and mesmerizing in a chosen room in the house. BOILED EGG TRICK I sure didn't know this one.  I've always done the lots of salt in the water thing.  Changing lanes now! DISTINCTIVE U.S. ACCENTS Having traveled and worked all around the country - and working with people from all over the country and even other countries - I do recognize and can identify many of these accents immediately.  Has always been intriguing to me.

Yo! Daymaker Readers and Yo! Monday - Daylight Savings time happened yesterday.  "Spring Forward - Fall Back."  I think most of us know that little saying or phrase. Save Arizona and Hawaii - they just sit tight and keep their clocks the same because Daylight Savings Time is not observed there - lucky them - ha  (did a super fast research on that via Google - ha). My computer and cell phone did the time change automatically.  I still need to turn all the house clocks and oven digital clock back. Enjoyed finding these fabulous interestings for today. Beginning with the Spectacular Artworks on an Australian beach.  They are nothing less than HUGE, CREATIVE, WHIMSICAL MASTERPIECES.  "Good on ya, Artists!" Wish I could've kicked off my shoes and walked along the sandy beach and viewed all up close and personal. Perhaps next time.  Hello, Bucket List!

5 for FRIDAY | SEPTEMBER 29

HELLO SPECTACULAR READERS from Cheryl Clarson Presenting Friday September 29 Episode.  Welcome. Have a great line up today! Beginning with the pics: #1 Peppers and Papayas.  That's a lot of fun to say.  I feel stuffed peppers for dinner in my future! #2 The coolest, thriving mass planting of horse-tail reed I've ever seen.  This is a small picture piece of how this planting was growing at a Hyatt Regency resort here in Texas.  It was at least 2 blocks long.   Spectacular.  Impressive.   I LOVE this plant.  Yes, it's invasive (think bamboo) but it's such a cool plant kept under watch.  I have several at my home - but in planters, so they don't wander where they please. #3 Sandwich pic - I think we'll name it the ham-zing-a-roonie!  This sandwich is delicious!  How to assemble it is in this episode.  Make it.  Doubt you'll be disappointed.  I know I'm not and those I have made it for either.

WEDNESDAY READER | MAY 17

Wednesday greetings, wondrous readers! Presenting Wednesday's Reader. Pop Quiz and Fascinating stuff from Leslie Elman indeed gives material for us to be the most interesting person in the room. And Tracy Beckerman's bug story is one I'm pretty sure most of us can relate to.  I know I can. The Mowie-Wowie chicken teriyaki slider recipe is blue ribbon. Got a smile or twenty-nine?  Pass them around.  They're contagious.  Beautiful.  Gifts. Introducing Dixie Lee - friends for over 30 years - who has come aboard to do social media for Daymaker Readable Art.  Welcome Dixie!  She's a lot of fun (trust me).  Our backstory coming soon... Dixie says: "Hey, everyone!  I'm excited to be part of the Daymaker Readable Art team.  Cheryl and I have such a long-strong friendship.  When she first told me about her vision of a blog - I believed in it.  So long overdue with her creative passion about so many things.  But specifically this one.  We have had so many conversations about Daymaker and her strength is content and mine is Social Media.  We did the hand shake and a high five.  Combing our collective talents.   I look forward to meeting you on our social sites." As always, thanks for sliding by and giving us a piece of your day.  Appreciate one and all. Have a grand day. See ya Friday.
