FINGER JELLO CUBES, IMPROMPTU, RANDOM DANCE ACTION, YELLOW JACKETS BE GONE!

Welcome JULY!

Plans for the 4th?  My wonderful neighbors/friends have invited me over for their get-together celebration on the 4th.  Pretty sure I’m going to take them up on it.  Always outstanding tacos, salsa and sides, cool music, a little fireworks action and kids laughing!  Count me in!
I’m thinking I will take over a big bowl of finger jello cubes (in the recipes today) to contribute to the festivities!

Excellent line-up of fabulous to share  today!

BEGINNING WITH:

The surprising, Ingenious Ingredient to add to hot dogs!
I would have never guessed this little add on.  Totally makes sense, though.  I love hot dogs.  Not every week – but every now and then and this is definitely hot dogs on the grill season!

Yellow Jackets DIY trap
Totally gonna make one – probably more like three.  Yep, I’ve got them.  And, yep, the ones that also live in the ground.  Found out about that little fun fact mowing one year when I inadvertently disturbed an underground nest and they came out of the ground and were on fierce-big-time-attack mode.  It was less than ideal.  Thank goodness my instincts kicked in FAST and I ran FAST and jumped in the pool (however, not without a few little warriors stinging me first – like 9 times).

3-D Animated Size Comparison of Monsters
Fascinating.  The VFX artists/specialists who create these images for television, big screen theater productions, video games are absolutely Awe-mazing.  The skills and imagination is something I can’t wrap my head around how they do it — cool.

Keita Morimoto’s Glowing Street Scene Pieces
Is – well – check it out for yourself.  I wish I had one of his pieces.  Pretty sure I can’t afford his artwork.  So I’ll just view them and totally hat tip his talent with giant appreciation.

CORNSTARCH
Who knew it was such a valuable “commodity” in the kitchen?  I didn’t.  But now I do and so do you.

RECIPES!
ARTICHOKE LEMON HUMMUS
My sisters went to a farmers market on Saturday and they raved about an Artichoke Lemon Hummus dip they purchased.  Intrigued me to try and find a recipe – and here’s what I found!
GREEK POTATO WEDGES with YOGURT SAUCE
Hello!  Air fryer?  Make it easier?  I dunno.  These Greek potato wedges have “can’t eat just one” all over them.  Ha!
MEXICAN STREET CORN DIP
Looks absolutely TDF and the comments/reviews confirm ’tis so
PESTO SMASHED CHICKPEA SALAD
There’s nothing about this recipe that reads anything other than “WINNER WINNER Chickpea Sandwich Dinner”  or lunch or appetizer!
FINGER JELLO
Nostalgic + refreshing + light + a jiggle-jiggle before a bite delish fun!

STRANGERS SHOW OFF THEIR DANCE MOVES
HAPPY DANCE!!
Wait!
Nope, this is not something you’ve seen here before.  This one is a new find (although a post from a few years back).
Me, I couldn’t dance my way out of a paper bag.  But I LOVE watching people who can dance and the inner happiness, personalites through dance  and total joy of the unique dance styles – especially when it’s impromptu like it is in this video compilation.
My favorite take aways were the soccer ball dude, older gentleman in military uniform …
Ah, I shouldn’t even say I have a favorite – all were magical and made me smile with joy!
High five to ** Thoroya YouTube **  for her innovative videos which all represent her motto “BE KIND”.

PENCIL MAKER STORY
Pretty sure I have included this story in a Daymaker in the past.  Nevertheless, and for whatever reason, I was reminded of it this past weekend and wanted to share again.  Simple + makes you think  + beautiful message.

THE PENCIL MAKER STORY

Just before putting the pencils in the box, the pencil maker gave them 5 important lessons:

  1. Everything you do will always leave a mark.
  2. You can always correct the mistakes you made.
  3. What is important is inside of you.
  4. In life, you will undergo painful sharpenings, which will only make you better.
  5. To be the best pencil, you must allow to be held and guided by the hand that holds you.

We all need to be constantly sharpened.  This parable may encourage you (us) to to know that you are a special person, with unique God-given talents and abilities.

Only you can fulfill the purpose which you were born to accomplish.

Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think your life is insignificant and cannot be changed and, like the pencil, always remember that the most important part of who you are, is what is inside.

I love the soccer guy dancing too very talented! The hot dog secret ingredient of the cornbread sounds really interesting gonna have to try that one great blog as usual❤️

  2. Carol says:

Who would have thought of adding cornbread sprinkles to hot dogs! Well, now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense – who doesn’t have fond memories of corny dogs at the State Fair? And this version is practically fat free. 😉 Well, lower fat anyway. I love that the topping can be used on so many other dishes, all of which sound wonderful. Win-win recipe!!!

Also love the glowing artwork – creative and fun.

Can’t pick a favorite from the recipes but thinking the finger Jello will be a hit this summer.

Parable of the Pencil – spot on!

Daymaker, I love fresh corn anything! Especially equal parts corn to butter! Thanks for the recipe. So the Pencil Maker Story caused me to think of C.S. Lewis, one of the greatest thinkers and writers of all times. He has a great little 13 minutes Utube entitled, “We Have No Right To Happiness.” He puts it in the category similar to you have a right to be 6 feet tall or you have a right to good luck. He does add a few rights we do have so I will leave that to entice you to pull it up on utube.
