ART, HUMOR, INSPIRATION AND 5 AMAZING RECIPES
Hello Monday and friends –
How are things going in the new spring season that’s arrived and breathing life back into all that was dormant during winter season? AS IN GREEN, GREEN, GREEN! Leaves are popping on the trees, grass is growing like crazy and new growth sprouting everywhere. Spring is ON!
Another super fun collection found to share for your enjoyment.
BEGINNING WITH:
CLEVER TEACHERS and their teaching styles that entice students to sit up, listen and learn! My favorite takeaways are #7, #14, #43. Guessing, fun for both teachers and students.
SHORT COMPILATION OF BREATHTAKING SHOTS IN MOVIE HISTORY is a tiny movie all by itself. STUNNING, MESMERIZING!
REMEMBER CLACKERS? I totally do! I had several, as did my friends, in cool colors and designs — kinda like GIANT (as in almost the size of a billard ball). AND I was REALLY GOOD at making those things clack-clack-clack without missing a beat. Who knew (back then) that Clackers were not necessarily a great “toy” or “idea” based on the what-if scenarios? Ha. We didn’t care — it was competition at its best to see who could clack for the longest time. Ahhhh, those were the days.
WHEN TO PUT OUR HUMMINGBIRD FEEDERS OUT NOW THAT IT’S SPRING – I’ve been wondering exactly when and now I know. I have 2 and they’re great looking “vessels”. Both purchased from Wal-Mart garden department. I hang one outside my living room picture window and one outside my kitchen sink window (on about a foot long piece of chain so they drop down a little bit) and I so enjoy spotting the little hummingbirds zooming in – hovering and going a little back and forth – to feed on some liquid “food.” Hummingbirds are happy entertainment. If you don’t have a Hummingbird feeder – I encourage you to think about getting one. For them AND you!
HOW TO WASH THROW RUGS – hello! I have numerous little throw rugs in my home and I also have some medium size throw rugs. Additional tip from me (!) I gather them all up and take them to the local laundry mat and put them in the “industrial” size washer. Read my phone or pages from a book as I wait for the cycle to finish and bring ’em home and hang out to dry. One wash and done sort of thing.
RECIPES TODAY are absolute keepers —
Charleston Pickled Shrimp – never have heard of it – however, has my interest in giving it a try as it’s kinda a big deal from way back in the day.
DELI-STYLE Chicken Sandwiches – well aware of – especially really good ones. And Nagi gives us the inside secret of the how-to-do.
SPINACH BAKED GNOCCHI WEEKDAY DINNER – ‘nough said. What a delicious fast, throw-together, pop it in the oven, pull it out and stellar dinner is on!
CHARRO BEANS – Raise your hand if you love an outstanding side of beans on your plate at a BBQ or potluck? I sure do. This recipe will have people calling you the hostess-with-the-mostest OR top of the invite list!
PISTACHIO LOAF – WOWZER! Pretty sure we all have our go-to recipes for banana bread loaf, pumpkin bread loaf, lemon poppy seed loaf — BUT Pistachio bread loaf?
HELPLESS LOVE TALE – is greatness.
THANKS SO MUCH – for popping in today and giving us a read + engaging + sharing + thoughts. We are grateful.

HELPLESS LOVE
Once upon a time all feelings and emotions went to a coastal island for a vacation. According to their nature, each was having a good time.
Suddenly, the warning of an impending storm was announced and everyone was advised to evacuate the island.
The announcement caused sudden panic. All rushed to their boats. Even damaged boats were quickly repaired and commissioned for duty.
Yet, LOVE did not wish to flee quickly. There was so much to do. But as the clouds darkened, LOVE realized it was time to leave. Alas, there were no boats to spare. LOVE looked around with hope.
Just then PROSPERITY passed by in a luxurious boat. LOVE shouted, “PROSPERITY, could you please take me in your boat?”
“No,” replied PROSPERITY, “My boat is full of precious possessions, gold and silver. There is no place for you.”
A little later VANITY came by in a beautiful boat. Again, LOVE shouted, “Could you help me, VANITY? I am stranded and need a lift. Please take me with you.”
VANITY responded haughtily, “No, I cannot take you with me. My boat will get soiled by your muddy feet.”
SORROW passed by after some time. Again, LOVE asked for help, but to no avail. “No, I cannot take you with me. I am so sad, I want to be by myself.”
When HAPPINESS passed by a few minutes later, LOVE again called for help. But HAPPINESS was so happy that it did not look around, hardly concerned about anyone.
LOVE was growing restless and dejected.
Just then somebody called out, “Come, LOVE, I will take you with me.”
LOVE did not know who was being so magnanimous, but jumped on the boat, greatly relieved that she would reach a safe place.
On getting off the boat, LOVE met KNOWLEDGE. Puzzled, LOVE inquired, “KNOWLEDGE, do you know who so generously gave me a lift when no one else wished to help?”
KNOWLEDGE smiled, “Oh, that was TIME.”
And why would TIME stop to pick me up and take me to safety?” LOVE inquired.
KNOWLEDGE smiled with deep wisdom and replied, “because only TIME knows your greatness and what you are capable of. Only LOVE can bring peace and great happiness in this world.”
The important message of this tale is that when we are prosperous, we overlook love. When we feel important, we forget love. Even in HAPPINESS and SORROW we forget LOVE. Only with TIME do we realize the importance of LOVE. Why wait that long? Why not make LOVE a part of your life today?

The movie clips were Great! I bought my hummingbird feeder at Walmart too. It is red, yellow and white colored glass and I love it too!
Hi Stacy –
Indeed! Agree the movie clips are really cool!
Glad you enjoyed.
And rock on to all of us who put a hummingbird feeder out for these little fun guests that find them and bring us joy watching them.
Thanks for reading and sharing!
VALUABLE!
Walk down memory lane for me today. . .I used to have an herb garden outside our sunroom and “in the season” would be treated to the antics of tiny hummingbirds as I worked on my computer by the window. They were mesmerizing! I recall being on conference calls and having to force myself to pay attention to the speaker. The hummers were much more interesting!
And another time I spent much of a summer in Austin assisting our office with a network conversion. We stayed in a hotel near the location of the famous evening bat exodus and as often as we could would plan to be there to view first a few bats exiting the cave, then increasing numbers until the sky was dark with the little critters. It never got old.
Yay, walk down memory lane with hummingbirds and bats!
Peter and I spent several years working on shows in Austin, and, yes, the whole “bat” thing was/is a big deal. As I recall last time there – Austin has erected a giant bat sculpture close around the bridge that is super-duper artistic cool!
Thanks, Carol – we sure do appreciate you and your giant love + support for Daymaker.
MATTERS A LOT
Re: Daymaker’s HUMMING BIRD feeder: What a great way to greet those beautiful little birds into your life via your kitchen window or wherever else you spend most of your daily window time. RECIPE: To make their favorite liquid food, add 1 cup sugar to 4 cups of boiling water. Stir until dissolved. When cool, place in a quart jar. After filling their feeder, place the leftover juice in the refrigerator for an easy to fill second time around. PROBLEM: If ants see this as a great opportunity for free meals using your hanging wire or by crawling up your garden pole, simple coat their busy little highway with Vaseline. They will sacrifice an ant or two and call off the march.
