CONFETTI SLAW

~ This recipe is from my mom’s friend, Luci, and it is sooo, sooo, good!  Replace the tired old coleslaw recipe with this exciting fruity one.  We made it at Hippie Cowboy from time to time and people were wild about it.

HERE’S HOW WE MAKE IT:

  • 8 cups shredded cabbage
  • 2 oranges, peeled and cut into bite size pieces
  • 2 red apples, chopped (Delicious or Gala)
  • 2 cups red, seedless grapes – halved
  • 1/4 cup raisins

CONFETTI SLAW DRESSING:
whisk together …

  • 1/2 cup good quality mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 TBSP lemon juice
  • 2 TBSP sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt

COMBINE CABBAGE AND FRUIT TOGETHER
Gently fold in dressing with cabbage and fruit and let them all hang out it the fridge for at least an hour.

STEPHANIE’S
CHIC ON THE CHEAP

Hello Beautiful People!

In my personal opinion, a perfect denim skirt should be a staple in everyone’s closet.  I have 3 different denim skirts in mine.

9 times out of 10 –  I choose my just below the knee pencil cut skirt.

This skirt is flattering on any body type and can be worn again and again just by switching it up.

You can dress it up or tone it down – wear it with your favorite boots or tennis shoes.

I want to share some fun examples of outfits I put together and wear:

PIC #1

A simple tank with a cool scarf tied around the waist and a pair of wedge shoe heels.

I would keep jewelry at a minimum – because the scarf is  the statement piece.

PIC #2

Next — let’s throw on a fun graphic t-shirt!  In this pic I gathered the shirt on the side and held “it” together with a rubber band or a pony tail band – then took a stretchy beaded bracelet to add a little fun – over the rubber band/pony tail band –  (Pro Tip)!

PIC #3

Let’s dress this outfit up!
A faux leather top and some boots!  … a more fitted only- to- the- calf boot looks great with the pencil denim skirt.
I put 3 necklaces together with this top …
Reminder – these are your statement pieces – so keep the rest of your jewelry to a minimum.

PIC #4

Last but not least!  Fall season will find us soon.

For the fall + winter — throw on a sweater and your favorite tall boots with this skirt.

To keep your sweater and skirt combo from looking “too boxy”  — simply tuck the sweater into the waist of your skirt in the front or on the side which will create a flattering waist line effect.

IF YOU:

Search for “knee length” pencil skirts on line — many will pop up.
If the skirts you see are tapered at the knee, they will be harder to walk in because they restrict how large the steps you can walk.

Seek a true straight line pencil skirt.

You will be amazed how much versatility and wear and great compliments you will get out of this skirt.  Year ’round!
