HAPPY FRIDAY!

5 For Friday February 16

Greetings awesome readers!

How’s your week been?  All really good in my world.  It’s crazy how I had the doors and windows popped open today and listened to the birds.  I had to pinch myself – nope, not spring, mid February.  Ha

Nonetheless, enjoying the mild temperatures for sure.

Great 5 for Friday presentation today —

Beginning with

STEPHANIE’S CHIC ON THE CHEAP
Super easy-peasy makeup tips.  I love the “3” contour drawing on each side of the face + the “V” like shape under the eye concealer tip.

I’m totally in.  I feel more glamorous already!

Once again, Steph keeps us in the know with her fantastic tips and tricks.   Thanks, Steph!

QUICK QUESTION
I’m not sure right this second what object I would choose — if I could — to gift everyone on the planet.  But I’m thinking about it.  You?

HOT CHOCOLATE STORY
Is hands-down-of-value.  The professor might be “retired” but he sure is still teaching lessons about quality of life.  Beautiful.

BRIE AND LINGUINE RECIPE
Is absolutely delicious and a recipe I’ve not seen before I was given this one by a friend.  It’s definitely worthy to consider and prepare for a ta-dahhh dinner.

WE SURE ARE GRATEFUL
For all of you sliding by and spending part of your day with us and our 5 for Friday episode + sharing thoughts + love.

Okay — here we go!  Enjoy the read.

STEPHANIE’S
CHIC ON THE CHEAP

Hi Ladies!

Can’t seem to find an easy way to contour your face?
Today I’m going to share a few very easy makeup tips that make a big impact!

Try these classic methods:

Dust your blush brush into a bronzer or powder blush and draw a shape of the number 3 on each side of your face.  I’ve been using this method for years.  I also brush a little blush on my eyelids which makes a nice frame for your face and gives the illusion of a strong jawline.

PIC #1
Example of the 3 pattern for bronzer or blush.

Next –
For years I applied my under eye concealer horizontally just under my eyes.  However, it never quite blended the way I wanted it to and looked a little heavy.

I now – not only – apply it under my eyes but I blend it down on the upper part of my cheeks toward my nose.  This creates a brightness in the center of my face and a little more coverage.

PIC #2
Example of where concealer should be applied and blended.  ((I dab 2 dots of concealer directly under my eyes and 1 dot directly on my upper cheek and then blend with my fingers.))

PIC #3
Model with no makeup.

PIC #4
Model using these techniques.
If you look closely, you can see that bronzer or blush was applied around her hairline and on her jawline, as well as, the cheek bones.  This frames her face with a darker color — making the contrast of the lighter concealer under her eyes and on her upper – inner cheek area have a brightening pop in the center of her face.

Try these techniques on one side of your face – but not the other.  You will be amazed at the difference!

Happy Weekend!

QUICK QUESTION

YOU CAN GIVE ONE OBJECT TO EVERYONE IN THE WORLD (THE SAME OBJECT) WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

HOT CHOCOLATE

A group of graduates, well established in their careers, were talking at a reunion and decided to go and visit their old university professor, now retired.

During their visit, the conversation turned to complaints about stress in their work and lives.  Offering his guests hot chocolate, the professor went into the kitchen and returned with a large pot of hot chocolate and an assortment of cups – porcelain, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, exquisite — telling them to help themselves to the hot chocolate.

When they all had a cup of chocolate in hand, the professor said:

“Notice that all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones.  While it’s normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

‘The cup that you’re drinking from adds nothing to the quality of the hot chocolate.  In most cases it’s just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.

‘What all you really wanted was hot chocolate, not the cup; but you consciously went for the best and then you began eyeing each other’s cups.

‘Now consider this:

‘Life is the hot chocolate; your job, money and position in society are the cups.  They are just tools to hold and contain life.  The cup you have does not define, nor change the quality of life you have.  Sometimes by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the hot chocolate.

‘I made the hot chocolate, you chose the cup.”

The happiest people don’t have the best of everything.
They just make the best of everything that they have.
Live simply.  Love generously.  Care deeply.  Speak kindly.  And enjoy your hot chocolate.

Can’t wait to try Steph’s make-up tips. Simple yet effective. The Brie and Linguine recipe sounds perfect especially for summer with its no-cook sauce.. Great hot chocolate story. Can’t think of an object to give everyone, but working on it.

    Happy weekend!

I totally agree Carol! I’m going to use Steph’s tips as well. Yes, simple + effective. 2 of my favorite things! The Hot Chocolate story is a winner-winner-winner that once I read it – just sticks with me. And I know every time I sip a cup of hot chocolate the story will find me again.

Thanks so much for sharing and caring. We are grateful!

In response to “If you could give one object to everyone in the world and it had to be the same object what would it be? After going through dozens of things it finally hit me. A ticket to the grandest of all: the Barnum & Bailey Circus like that in years past. From the dozen or so clowns getting out of a tiny little car to all types of high wire acts. Yep, that’s my choice for everyone!

    • Cheryl Clarson says:

I love your “one gift” you’d give to everyone if you could being a ticket to the “Greatest Show on Earth” as I recall Barnum & Baily Circus touted. Indeed, they were. I saw them twice and it was pure magic and amazing for the 2 hours spent watching all of their performing acts. I don’t even think I remember having a favorite. It was Ahhhhh! Wowwww! and Laughter for that suspended moment in the day and the moments still live in my memory today. Super cool.
