Hey, yo Friday and Friends –
Another great 5 for FRIDAY line-up today!
Beginning with:
STEPHANIE’S CHIC ON THE CHEAP
Wow! Is what I say about this Forever Bloom product.
Truth be told — I’ve never worn foundation; truth be told it’s probably time. I just couldn’t get comfortable with the whole slathering my face with what — for me — seemed like face paint.
I’m totally IN on Steph’s advice on this cool product. I love the step-by-step instructions and how little it takes to cover one’s face and the crazy-cool results! Her pics do a great show and tell.
BONUS – Steph gives us the inside scoop on how and where to buy this high-end product for Chic on the Cheap.
Once again – Stephanie gives us the inside scoop.
Thanks, Steph!
QUICK QUESTION
My first job was as a Pizza Hut waitress in high school, wearing a red polyester uniform — red pants with a sewn in permanent crease, zip up red top with pattered short sleeves and topped off with a “derby” style hat (also polyester – ha).
I loved that job and it was really good for that “shy” girl I once was. Engaging with customers at tables, answering the business phone taking to-go orders and the crew members I worked with.
It was a lot of laughs and it was hard enough work for a high school girl — cleaning the bathrooms, tables and booths, vacuuming the dining room after closing before going home at the end of my shift. Good thing that wasn’t hard work, as my mama taught us how to work hard — life in general.
I still remain a giant fan of Pizza Hut – Italian Sausage and Green Pepper on thin crust. Although, I’m not aware of any Pizza Hut dining room with a wait staff around my neck of the woods.
If only I still had that red polyester uniform – I’d break it out at Halloween and probably win a costume contest or 2. Ha!
What was your first job and the memories take away?
OH, THE JOYS OF WOMANHOOD
Is a hilarious collection. My favorite is how does a 2 pound box of chocolate = 5 pounds of weight gain?
CARBONNADE RECIPE
Is outstanding! Other than a little time and effort put forth for caramelizing the onion + mixture, the entire recipe is a snap to make, load and lock in a crock pot/slow cooker. Hello winter time dinner fit for Royalty.
LOVE THE QUOTE
From Michael Altshuler. I’m carrying my pilot’s license from this day forward.
Grateful, Daymakers, for sliding by on this Friday to give us a read and love.
Here we go. Enjoy!
STEPHANIE’S
CHIC ON THE CHEAP
THE PERFECT MATCH!
Hello!
My client, Tina, came in a few weeks ago to have her hair colored. She plopped down in my chair and said, “What do you think about my make-up foundation?”
I responded, “Your skin looks flawless beautiful. But it hardly looks like you have make-up on.”
Tina then told me she’s been using this new Biomimic foundation made by a company called FOREVER BLOOM.
She then told me that you can go directly to the company online — ** foreverbloom.com ** — and get it for $49. Because outside distributors cost a whole lot more.
I checked it out and purchased a bottle.
This foundation is 4-in-1: It’s a moisturizer, it contains SPF 50 sunscreen, it tones your skin AND mimics your skin color.
I’ve never seen anything like this … it starts out like a white cream moisturizer. The more you rub it in your skin, the more it changes color until it matches your skin color.
It comes in Light, Medium and Dark.
It’s so easy to use and takes the guess work out of the challenge of choosing the right foundation color for your skin. I went with the Light Spectrum.
It sets once applied — no need to set it with a powder or setting spray. I don’t know exactly how to explain this but it sort of melds into your skin and does not build up in wrinkles or lines.
It actually appears as if you’re not wearing foundation at all — and your skin looks flawless at the same time.
It’s not oily on your skin; in fact, it almost has a matte finish. It took less than a pea size of this foundation to cover my whole face.
I told my friend, Jan, about this product. She purchased some, too. Also in the Light Spectrum.
Before I wrote and posted this column, I checked with Jan to get her thoughts about Forever Bloom foundation. She absolutely loves it! Said it was the best foundation she’s ever used.
My skin is fair with olive undertones. Jan’s skin is fairer than mine with pink undertones. This foundation adjusted the color perfectly for both of our skin tones.
I don’t know what magic dust is in this product to make it adjust to your skin color — it just does. The more you rub it in, the more it adjusts.
I applied some to the top of my hand to demonstrate how it works.
PIC #1
Is what it looks like when coming out of the bottle.
PIC #2
Is what it looks like when you just start rubbing it in and begins adjusting to your skin tone.

Shows what my left hand looks like after color has adjusted compared to my right hand which does not have anything/product on it.

Forever Bloom product — again, go to Forever Bloom

Have a great weekend!

QUICK QUESTION
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB?
OH, THE JOYS OF WOMANHOOD
This is a pretty funny collection. Especially for those of us who can relate to one or more- ha!
- Women over 60 don’t have babies because they might put them down and forget where they left them.
- One of life’s mysteries is how a 2 pound box of chocolates can make a woman gain 5 pounds.
- My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves me completely.
- The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.
- The nice part about living in a small town is that when you don’t know what you’re doing, someone else does.
- The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.
- Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.
- Sometimes I think I understand everything, and then I regain consciousness.
- Amazing! You hang something in your closet for awhile and it shrinks 2 sizes!
- Some skinny people can be a little irritating – especially when they say things like, “You know, sometimes I just forget to eat.” What? There have been one or more times that I have forgotten my driver’s license number, the last four digits of my social security number, and my keys. You gotta be some kind of special to forget to eat.
- I read an article that said the typical symptoms of stress are: eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That’s my idea of a perfect day.
CARBONNADE
This Belgian beef-and-beer stew is a natural for the slow cooker! And served on top of buttered egg noodles! Serves about 6 generous portions.
HERE’S HOW WE MAKE IT
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 pounds of cubed stew meat
- salt and pepper
- 2 large onions, sliced thin
- 1 cup water
- 2 TBSP vegetable oil
- 1 TBSP brown sugar
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 TBSP minced garlic (dried)
- 1 TBSP dried thyme
- 3 TBSP all-purpose flour
- 1 bottle light IPA lager beer ( think Yuengling or Modelo or Amistel or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale — if you aren’t a beer drinker, many grocery stores sell beers by the bottle in their refrigerated beer section)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1 package of egg noodles, prepared per packaged instructions, drained plus 3 TBSP of butter stirred in while noodles are hot
NOW:
- Season beef with salt and pepper. Place in a slow cooker.
- Combine onions, water, oil, brown sugar, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp pepper in a 12″ skillet. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cover and cook until onions are softened and water is nearly evaporated, about 15 minutes.
- Uncover and continue to cook, stirring often, until onions are super soft and dark brown – about 10 minutes longer. Add tomato paste, garlic and thyme and cook about 2 minutes – stirring frequently. Stir in bottle of beer and chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Cook until thickened — about 5 minutes.
- Transfer onion mixture to slow cooker with stew meat and stir to combine.
- Cook on high for about 6-7 hours or on low for 8-10 hours.
- When finished cooking — skim any fat from surface.
- Stir in fresh parsley and additional salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve over prepared buttered egg noodles.
Enjoy with a glass of red wine, cold mug of beer or a cold glass of milk.

The Joys of womanhood…so true!
Hey Stacy –
Joys of Womanhood is a total laugh – because of its truth! Ha
Thanks for your time in reading + commenting.
We sure do appreciate ya!
As Carol said, “Stay warm”
I’m loving how soft my skin feels after using Steph’s Snail Magic and can’t wait to see what wonderful results Forever Bloom will produce! Great column!
My first job was summers in an insurance agency where I did administrative (grunt) work for my cousin. While there I made friends with the office receptionist who taught me to operate their switchboard – yep, the old plug ‘n play type. Things went well until I accidentally unplugged “the boss”. 😉
Stay warm, y’all!
Hi Carol –
Plug ‘n Play type switchboard – how cool! And – uh – “whoopsie” accidentally unplugging the boss. Guess it’s not like today when we can claim that the cell signal was lost. Ha
I, too, am loving Steph’s Snail Magic results on my skin. Super amazing!
We sure thank ya for your great comments and reading us. Always
No kidding, stay warm. It’s definitely a brrrrr out there and gonna get even more brrrrr. Ready or not, here it comes!
I laughed my way through Joys of Womanhood! —— Now to Stephanie‘s foundation tips. I’m on it as I’m getting ready to place my order as suggested. $49 is not overpriced with all you get in one bottle. Thanks to all the Daymaker team who help keep us perking along.
Thanks, Marty!
Indeed the Joys of Womanhood is a great laugh.
Delighted that you enjoyed and we sure appreciate you, too, keeping us perking along with your thoughts + comments!
