HAPPY FRIDAY!

5 For Friday May 26 | Jen Pic

Hey – Hey!  And Hey Friday!

Shout out to my sister Jennie – today’s her birthday.

The black and white featured image is her at the age of 3 – wearing our Grandpa’s boots, her *broken in* hat, and hauling around a bridle.

Living the Montana kid dream sans videos, video games, tablets and more channels on television than “you could shake a stick at“.  haha

Happy Birthday, Jen!  xo

I was a Daymaker to a tiny little frog in the pool yesterday.

I didn’t get a pic because I had to get it out as quickly as possible.

It was paddling, paddling, paddling to stay afloat.  No doubt, worn out!

I’m not sure — but when I got it out of the pool and put it in the garden — it was “taking a moment” and a sigh of relief that it had been rescued from drowning — I feel like it kinda looked at me and said, “Thank you” before it hopped away under cover of plants the garden offers.

PICTURE LINE UP:

#1

BEAUTIFUL ROSE “TREE” – there’s something cool happening in the rose tree.  Can ya spot it?

#2

A SWEET LITTLE MAMA DOVE has built a nest in it!  I’ll keep ya posted on when the little doves hatch.

#3

BE NICE OR LEAVE sign at a local restaurant.  Can’t argue with that.

#4

A WOODY WOODPECKER was here!  One of my little trees outside the front door.  Cool to see how woodpeckers do their thing and leave their signature up close and personal.

QUICK QUESTION answer for me is Definitely.  Gosh – That word has always tripped me and I have to check it over and over – via our little friend called GOOGLE.  If I were in a Spelling Bee – “Spell Definitely” would have likely taken me out of the finalists.  What about you?

DEAR ANNIE’S COLUMN is sage advice from “Mom of Two Girls”

MUSTANG SALLY SANDWICH is 2 thumbs up!

5 SELECTED SONGS ON THE PLAYLIST TODAY are super pretty and peppy!  Hope you have a few to give them a listen.

Thanks for hanging out with us today and giving 5 for FRIDAY a piece of your day.  Grateful.

QUICK QUESTION

WHAT WORD DO YOU ALWAYS MISSPELL?

DEAR ANNIE
BY ANNIE LANE

Dear Annie:

After reading the letter from “Unable to Open Up,” the gentleman who was unable to articulate his thoughts to his therapist, I wonder if writing down his thoughts would help.  Sometimes we can’t bring ourselves to speak up for fear of being chastised, laughed at or embarrassed.  I always encouraged my daughters to write down anything that was bothering them just to get it out of their mind, and sometimes it didn’t look as bad once they got it out.  He could take the paper(s) to his therapist or just tear them up and throw them away.  Either way, I wish him well and much success as he tries to heal himself.  ~ Mom of Two Girls

Dear Mom of Two Girls:

Writing things down is very powerful.  Either through journaling and keeping your journey to yourself or writing a personalized letter to the person.

MUSTANG SALLY SANDWICH

For those who like the Hawaiian pizza – ya know, Canadian bacon + pineapple + cheese – you’re gonna love this sandwich!

HERE’S HOW WE ASSEMBLE IT:

  • Great bread – think Ciabatta – little crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
    Cut sandwich bread in half
  • Spread Mayo on one half and softened cream cheese on the other half
  • Crumbled, crispy bacon – generously sprinkled on the mayo side
  • Crushed pineapple from a can that has been drained, drained, drained – so it’s not liquidy – spread on the cream cheese side
  • Thinly sliced good quality ham from the deli
  • Thinly sliced Baby Swiss cheese slices
  • Sprouts (alfalfa or sunflower)

Layer ham slices and swiss cheese slices on as high as you like it to be.  Then add a sprinkle of sprouts.  Close the sandwich up and firmly press down.

Serve with a bag of chips, or a hand full of chips or fruit.

Ta-da!  Big lunch or light dinner!

Re: 5 for Friday: I loved TinaTurner: I attended her jammed packed concert in the 80’s in Kansas City, Mo wearing her very high heels and then believe it or not I saw her relatively recently in a TV concert wearing the same very high heels with plenty of singing and prancing. What a performer. Thanks Daymaker for the memory. I googled her moments ago and found she died just this year at age 83 no doubt with her very high heels near her side.
