HAPPY FRIDAY!

Cinnamon Roll Poke Cake

Happy day after Thanksgiving – hope your Thanksgiving was warm and filled with friends / family / food / laughter / memory stories and heart.  Mine was.  Traveled to visit my beautiful family in Sacramento and we totally had a blast, telling stories, sharing laughter and eating a lot!  All the usual suspects!

Raise your hand if you are or did go out to shop the “Black Friday” sales.  Me, nope.  Hanging out with those of us who did not go out to shop and making executive decisions (ha) what we can create with the all the leftovers.

A few pics from our yesterday when it was in full swing production.

Chris and T.J. manning the smoked ham – amazing.  Chris is our family master smoker.  And Jared is most def as well.  Jared smoked the turkey which also was amazing.

All hands on deck!  Everyone doing what they do to make the feast happen.  That’s Jared in the foreground slicing the turkey he smoked.

Cooper, 10, set the table.  His first time.  Nice job, Coop!

Kaylyn made a super delicious sangria “punch” with lots of fresh fruit.

Recipe today is the Sangria punch Kaylyn (my beautiful niece – fun fact – we share the same birthday) assembled into a beautiful vessel ready for all to just pour into a glass(es).  I’m pretty sure a holiday is not necessary to make this yummy drink – just a group of people hanging out.

Today’s playlist is thumbs up.  Hope you give it a listen.

As always, thanks for being here.  I am grateful.

QUICK QUESTION

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE TAKE-AWAY MEMORY FROM YOUR THANKSGIVING YESTERDAY?

SANGRIA PUNCH WITH FRESH FRUIT

  •   1 red apple, cored and thin sliced
  •   1 pear, cored and thin sliced
  •   1/2 orange, peeled and separated into sections
  •   2 TBSP sugar
  •   1/2 tsp cinnamon
  •   1 750 ml bottle dry red wine, such as Rioja
  •   1 750 ml bottle sparkling cider or apple cider
  •   Optional/additional garnishes – cinnamon sticks, rosemary sprigs, remaining orange slices

Pour into vessel and add a little ice.  Not too much.  So it doesn’t get watered down.

Serve!
