Christmas and Holiday Dishes

Christmas and Holiday Dishes

Monday Greetings, Friends!

What did the weekend bring your way besides some last minute shopping?
Only 9 days ’til Christmas.
Hard to believe!
My sister, Jennie, and I had that conversation today.
Jen said, “I can’t believe Christmas is only 9 days away.  Just yesterday it seems it was Thanksgiving.”
I agreed.  “When we were kids, Christmas seemed a million days away.”  We laughed.

Mine was most productive – in small ways – turns out big ways.

Temperatures were most favorable (in the 70s), so I jumped at the opportunity to clean all the exterior of my windows and oil the wood on screen doors and outside wood doors before Old Man Winter comes along with his cold breath and takes claim for a few months.

All are race ready to endure wintertime in style.

Success!

Had so much joy collecting these Christmastime treasures to share today!

CHRISTMAS CAROL
SUNG BY TINY TIM
BY CHARLES DICKENS

God Bless us Every one

Life is full of sweet surprises

Every day’s a gift

The sun comes up and I can feel it lift my spirit

Fills me up with laughter

Fills me up with song

I look into the eyes of love

And I know that I belong

Bless us all who gather here

The loving family I hold dear

No place on Earth compares with home

And every path will bring me back from where I roam

Bless us all that as we live, we’ll always comfort and forgive

We have so much that we can share

With those in need we see around us everywhere

Let us always love each other

Lead us to the Light

Let us hear the Voice of Reason

Singing in the night

Let us run from anger and catch us when we fall

Teach us in our dreams and please

Yes, please, bless us one and all

Bless us all with playful years

With noisy games and joyful tears

We reach for you and we stand tall

And in our prayers and dreams

We ask you bless us all.

MY IDEA OF CHRISTMAS, WHETHER OLD-FASHIONED
OR MODERN, IS VERY SIMPLE:  LOVING OTHERS.
COME TO THINK OF IT —
WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR CHRISTMAS TO DO THAT?
~ BOB HOPE ~

Happy week!

      Hi Stacy –

I, too, love the Peanuts Christmas comics!

Charles Schulz totally had a world of fans with his heartfelt, humorous pieces.
Who doesn’t know the names — Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Schroeder … ?

What a gift Schulz was to planet earth.

Thanks, always, for taking the time to comment and share.

      LET’S GO LAUGHING

Love the Peanuts cartoons – especially Mary Christmas! Ahead of her time 😉

And those recipes! I’ve always had a thing for pinwheels and this version looks especially tasty and is so pretty for Christmas!!! The no-bake cheesecake reminds me of a long forgotten version I got from J’s Cafeteria many, many years ago. It was no-fail and delicious. Since I have no idea what happened to it over the years, I’m printing the Aussie version for my sure-to-try list.

Movie montage – sweet and touching. . .

    “Til Wednesday!!!

And I totally agree that the movie montage was sweet and touching. I love these creatives who go through the archives of so many shows and splice them all together so perfectly. Like putting together another story that’s a mesmerizing watch. I probably have watched it 5 times. Ha

      Thanks for reading and sharing!

      CHRISTMAS MAGIC

  2. Marty says:

RE Bob Hope: I accept the challenge when grocery shopping to see if I can catch the eye of a woman shopper by simply smiling at her and then pause to see if she smiles back. Most of the time people walk past me unaware of others. However, this morning a woman actually looked at me and found me smiling at her….lo and behold she smiled back.

Today’s Daymaker reminded me of that when I read the quote of Bob Hope. Bob Hope certainly brought hundreds of thousands of smiles on his annual Christmas tour to our service men and women.

A round of applause to such memory.

    • Cheryl Clarson says:

Good for you, Marty. Smiling and looking for smiles back. Cool idea.

And, yes, when I stumbled across the Bob Hope quote it brought back memories of watching his specials where he entertained the troops.

      What a wonderful human being.

So grateful for your support via reading and sharing.

      OH WHAT FUN
