Creative Thanksgiving Side Recipes

CREATIVE THANKSGIVING SIDE RECIPES

Monday morning happy hello!

Hope you enjoyed a terrific weekend.

Mine was terrific in that it was uneventful and totally chill.  Both the weather and relaxed.

Presenting Top of the Morning this November 18, 2024.  A super interesting + delicious line-up I found and collected to share today.

As Thanksgiving gets closer and closer – as in next week – I thought it Apropos to share the recipes in today’s post in case you want to mix it up just a little bit this year.  I’m especially intrigued by the Cabernet Cranberry Sauce recipe!  What’s not to love and give it a spin?

BEGINNING WITH:

1. NOTRE DAME BELLS RING
Raise your hand if you remember the horrific images broadcast from 2020 of the enormous flames engulfing the 850-year-old Notre Dame Cathedral.

Who could believe man + miracle could restore such devastation?  Well, it has happened.  And the bells are being  prepared to ring out in December heralding its upcoming completion!  AWESOMENESS!

2. MICHAEL MCGRATH FOLK ART
I love this artist’s work!  Such a unique style.

3. THE ONLY STORE BOUGHT PIE CRUST
Love to cross something off your Thanksgiving feast to-do-list?
Like making homemade tasting pie crust?

If yes — this is a must little view.

A group of expert bakers did the blindfold test and pinned the blue ribbon on this pie crust.

4. HILARIOUS AND FUN THINGS SPOTTED ON A SUBWAY
I’ve never actually been on a subway — but the next time I go to a giant city — I might hop aboard.
Looks like it’s people watching at the finest!

My favorite take-aways are:
#34 – Pet Bananas
# 37 – Dog in a Bag
# 41 – Only Guy Guaranteed a Seat
(I’d love to know the back story on this dude – obviously not his first rodeo.  ha)

5. THANKSGIVING CHARCUTERIE BOARD
Wow!
What an edible masterpiece for family and/or guests to enjoy.

6. CABERNET CRANBERRY SAUCE
What-what-what?
Talk about gold star cranberry sauce!

7. MASHED SWEET POTATOES WITH CHIPOTLE
I’ve never been a fan of sweet potatoes with the candied sauce and marshmallows on top.
But mashed sweet potatoes with chipotle?
I’m in!

8. SOUTHERN SQUASH CASSEROLE
Definitely a southern side that I’ve read and heard friends talk about.
Reading the recipe — I’m thinking — what’s not to love about it?

9. UNREAL CREAMED SPINACH WITH BOURSIN
Fresh Spinach + Boursin?!
Genius!

Pretty sure I’ll be making it this Thanksgiving and throughout the wintertime.

My thinking cap says it would absolutely be xxoo over a large sliced open baked potato for a stellar little dinner in front of the fire with a small butter lettuce salad + sliced red onion + fresh tomato + stellar vinaigrette.
And a glass of dry red wine.
Natch.
Or, of course, your favorite glass of vino.

10. SALTED CARAMEL PECAN PIE BARS
Wanna take traditional pecan pie up a tripe notch?
Here it is!
OMGoodness!

11. THE WORK OF 2 CHAMPIONS
I stumbled on this video by accident.
I’m so glad I did.
It’s super cool.

Our mom was a barrel racer back in the day.
Before my sisters Jennie and Lisa and I came into her world.  ha
I have a whole new respect for this arena sport after watching this short, slow mo  video.

Loved the idea that pie crust and cranberry sauce have been rated and all I have to do is go pick ’em up. Who would believe Trader Joes ranks number 1? I shop Trader Joes often and have never even noticed pie crust. I’m on the case for purchasing it for our traditional apple pies. As for the cranberry sauce, I will pick up this seasonal item while at Trader Joes just encase I don’t get Daymaker’s recipe made. I love Thanksgiving. It’s my favorite holiday. Hooray.
