Easy Chicken Enchilada Skillet

EASY CHICKEN ENCHILADA SKILLET

Monday morning greetings, awesome readers!
A new day is a blank canvas.  Paint it vibrant with your positive thoughts.

How’s the daylight savings time thing working out in your world?
Takes me a few days to adjust — I play the game of if the clock says it’s 3:30 — I think it’s really 2:30 sort of thing.
I just wonder why the time can’t just be left alone?  Like Arizona and Hawaii do?
Turns out, nobody with authority has asked me what I think.  But I still wonder.  Ha

Fire line-up today!

I had so much joy collecting these to share …
The tips and tricks are high five and the incredible recipes are totally on my gotta make again and again list.

The Charlie Brown story — not the Peanuts Charlie Brown — is an unforgettable story of a stranger’s compassion.
Doubt you’ll ever forget it.  I sure won’t.

CHARLIE BROWN

~ and the story goes …

Charlie Brown was a B-17 bomber out of Kimbolton, England.  His B-17 was called ‘Ye Old Pub’ and was in a terrible state having been hit by Flak and fighters.

The compass was damaged and they were flying deeper over enemy territory instead of heading home to Kimbolton.  After flying the B-17 over an enemy airfield, a German pilot named Franz Stigler was ordered to take off and shoot down the B-17.

When he got near the B-17, he could not believe his eyes.  In his words — he had never seen a plane in such a bad state.  The tail and rear section was severely damaged and the tail gunner wounded.

Despite having ammunition, Franz flew to the side of the B-17 and looked at Charlie Brown, the pilot.  Brown was scared and struggling to control his damaged and blood stained plane.

Aware that they had no idea where they were going, Franz waved at Charlie to turn 180 degrees.  Franz escorted and guided the stricken plane to, and slightly over, the North Sea towards England.  He then saluted Charlie Brown and turned away back to Europe.

When Franz landed he told the CO that the plane had been shot down over the Sea, and never told the truth to anybody.

Charlie Brown and the remains of his crew told all at their briefing, but were ordered to never talk about it.

More than 40 years later, Charlie Brown wanted to find the Luftwaffe pilot who had saved the crew.  After years of research, Franz was found.  He had never talked about the incident, not even at post-war reunions.

They met in the USA at a 379th Bomber Group Reunion together with the 25 people who were all alive — all because Franz never fired his guns that day.

When asked why he didn’t shoot them down, Stigler later said, “I didn’t have the heart to finish those brave men.  I flew beside them for a long time.  They were trying desperately to get home and I was going to let them do that.  I could not have shot at them.  It would have been the same as shooting at a man in a parachute.”

    What a fantastic issue!

Creative ways to use cornbread mix (a staple at our house), how to win at Monopoly (hubby’s favorite game that he plays with killer vengeance – haha! Just wait until we play again. . .), how to get rid of pesky weeds in gravel – something we are wrestling with at this very moment, a super story about the “real” Charlie Brown as well as the cartoon Charlie Brown characters, and enough yummy recipes to pack on at least 10 pounds in the process of enjoying.

    Thank you, DayMaker!!!

Who didn’t appreciate Maya Angelo? i recall the numerous times she was featured on talk shows sharing her profound poetry and life stories to millions. It seemed her only goal was to build people up rather than tear them apart. I enjoyed pulling her name up on YouTube. Thank you Daymaker for the reminder as I’m going to enjoy some of her stories again this night. Onward.
