THE GOOSE STORY
I love this story.
And, yes, I see, hear and gaze in amazement at the V formations flying overhead this time of year.
And every time I see them, I think about this story.
And the short visual/listen is super cool.

THE GOOSE STORY
And the story goes —
This fall when you see geese heading south for the winter, flying along in V formation, you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way – as each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following.
By flying in V formation the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.
When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front.
When the head goose gets tired, it rotates back in the wing and another goose flies point.
Geese honk behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
Finally, and this is important, when a goose gets sick, or is wounded by gunshots and falls out of formation, two other geese fall out with that goose and follow it down to lend help and protection. They stay with the fallen goose until it is able to fly, or until it dies.
Only then do they launch out on their own, or with another formation to catch up with their group.

I love the great truths a lot of wisdom there. Your cartoons are always funny funny. Gonna have to try the No peaky stew looks delish yummo
1) I loved Daymaker’s facts on Geese.
The Geese flying over our home always gets my attention. I’m the first out the door to not only hear their honking but to hear the air “swoosh” through their wings.
2) Soooo, Daymaker’s QUESTION: HAVE YOU EVER WITNESSED SOMETHING MIRACULOUS?
Years ago I decided to write about personal Miracles in a journal because I was afraid I would forget them!
To date I have 46 miracles. Here’s a short one: My husband had a massive hematoma on his spine several years ago which required emergency surgery. 3 surgeons following surgery and rehab said, “There is no way you should be alive.”
Wow! So much to enjoy in this issue! Great story about geese. Great cartoons. Great truths – at every stage. And then the perfect recipe! What a way to end the week! Thanks Daymaker!!!
