HAPPY FRIDAY!

Holiday Decorating Tips

Happy Friday the 15th — marking exactly half-way through November 2024.
Only 13 days away from Thanksgiving.

And this time next month we’ll be 10 days away from Christmas.  *gulp*
Hard to believe but ’tis true.

Next thing we know we’ll be looking at Spring showers bringing May flowers.
Time sure does one thing — it marches on — with or without our consent.  *ha*

Hope your week has been wonderful!

Another great line-up on this beautiful Friday.

BEGINNING WITH

STACY’S WORLD
Stacy, as always, keeps us in the know with her innovative tips and tricks.  Her column today is all about getting race ready for the fast approaching holidays.  In beautiful, unique style!

QUICK QUESTION
What is the funniest name I’ve ever heard of a pet?
Easy answer for me.
When we had Hippie Cowboy, our high school, part-time fryer cook, Stanley, had a pit bull whose name was “Convict.”  Totally cracked me up and I still remember that dog’s name today — 20+ years later.

THE MAN IN THE RAIN
Is a great reminder story.  Sometimes our prayers are answered but we just aren’t paying attention to how the answer arrives.

PINEAPPLE + CARROT + CINNAMON BREAKFAST BREAD
Is simply bite after bite amazing.
The recipe was given to me by my dad years ago and I think he got it from a Portland newspaper column way back then.  It was dubbed “Karat Bread.”    I didn’t think the name accurately described the bread so I took the liberty of renaming it.  I mean what in the world is Karat Bread?
Who could know?  But Pineapple + Carrot + Cinnamon bread defines it in three words.
I’ve made this easy breakfast bread so many, many times over the years and it’s absolutely marvelous.  Totally worthy of one for you and one for gifting to friends and/or neighbors – as this recipe makes 2 loaves.

THANK YOU DAYMAKERS
For gifting us a piece of this/your Friday with a slide by reading + commenting + sharing.
We adore your support!

Ready?
Set.
Here we go.
Enjoy.

STACY’S WORLD
HELLO HOLIDAYS!

My, my could it really be that Thanksgiving is in two weeks?

I know a lot of people like to have their Christmas decorations up by Turkey Day.

I have seen the coolest unique ideas for Christmas decor this year!  You people are so clever.

I love using the styrofoam pool noodles as a base for decorating your mantle.

See PICS 1 & 2 & 3 & 4

I found pics 1, 2, 3 from Life with Coco.
Pic 4 is from Janelle and Kate.

Simply cut the pool noodles in 10 inch sections and then cut those sections horizontally so they can open up and slide on the front edge of your mantle.  Then you stick your greenery and Poinsettias – or whatever other decor directly into the styrofoam.  Also, you can pop in little hooks to hang your stockings.

After Christmas just pop them off leaving the greenery, etc … intact and they are ready to just pop on the mantle the following year!
So easy!

I also very much love the idea of using different etched bowls stacked on top of each other to make a Christmas tree.
Then stack them on top of a candle stick to look like the tree trunk.

See PICS 5 & 6

I have three etched glass bowls in my cabinet.  Now I have an excuse to visit my favorite thrift stores to find more!  You can also find bowls like these at your local Dollar Stores.

Again, so easy and so elegant.
I found these beautiful trees on Chrystine’s post!

Last, but not least, I love finding unique foodie gift ideas.

This Christmas Cranberry Honey butter is the perfect little goodie for friends, neighbors and co-workers.  Everyone loves to get homemade delicious gifties!

All you do for this simple recipe is mix in a bowl:

+ 1 cup softened butter
+ 1/3 cup dried cranberries
+ 1/4 cup honey
+ 2 tsp grated orange peel
+ 1/8 tsp salt

Put your mixture in a sanitized glass container and decorate with Christmas ribbons or bows and there you go!

So easy, super cute and super delicious.

I would gift this Cranberry Honey Butter with a small loaf of Pepperidge Farm Cinnamon Swirl Bread.  Yummy!

MEME FOR THE DAY:
My Roomba just beat me to a Cheeto I dropped on the floor.
This is how the war against the machines begins.

Wishing you all a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving.

QUICK QUESTION

WHAT IS THE FUNNIEST NAME
YOU’VE HEARD OF A PET?

THE MAN IN THE RAIN

It rained for days and days and there was a terrific flood.  The water rose so high that the man was forced to climb on top of his roof and sit in the rain as the waters came up higher and higher.

A man in a rowboat came up to the house and told him to get in.

“No, thank you.  The Lord will save me!”  he said, and the man rowed away.

The waters rose to the edge of the roof and still the man sat on the roof until another rowboat came by and another man told him to get in.

“No, thank you.  The Lord will save me!”  he said again, and the man rowed away.

The waters covered the house and the man was forced to sit on his chimney as the rain poured down.  A helicopter came by and another man urged him to get in or he’ll drown.

“No, thank you.  The Lord will save me!”

After much begging and pleading the man in the helicopter gave up and flew away.

The waters rose above the chimney and the man drowned and he went to Heaven where he met God.

“Oh, Lord, I don’t understand,” he told Him frustrated.  “The waters rose higher and higher and I waited hours for you to save me, but you didn’t.  Why?”

The Lord just shook His head and said, “What are you talking about?  I sent two boats and a helicopter.”

My brother once had a dog named Felony and the name fit this pups personality.

The pineapple carrot bread sounds wonderful!

  2. Carol says:

Yay Stacy! Absolutely LOVE the idea of using pool noodles on the mantle edge. Saves using nails or screws or the like – with their attendant holes – and serves as a wonderful base for beautiful decor. Super!

And the etched glass bowl Christmas trees – elegant, unique, one-of-a-kind – fab-u-lous!!!

Note to friends – don’t be surprised if you receive gifts of Cranberry Honey Butter this year. . . 😉

    Getting excited about the holidays!

Will have to try the yummy Carrot Pineapple Bread. I can almost smell it baking in the oven. . .oh, that spicy fragrance!

We once had a cat named JoeBob – after a character from the Tuna plays. And one named Tag. He used to hide around corners and tag our ankles as we walked by.

    Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Stacy, I love your Christmas tip on fireplace garland!

I spend hours wiring together the real branches ugh.

This is a fantastic easy way❤️ The cranberry butter looks delish

  4. Marty says:

Well, Daymaker, a dog’s name that’s funny? Hmmmm? I’ve gone through my list of the many dogs I’ve known but none were funny. However, would you accept my current dog’s name? It’s Winston Churchill. Why that? Because my little dog reminds me, when a day gets a bit tough, “Never, never, give up!”
Now, on with Stacy. She comes up with the darndest things. I love it! The noodle ideas is simple yet so effective. I walk past Joann Fabrics or Michaël’s and see NOODLES on their sidewalk sale often. I’m on the case.
Thanks Daymaker for keeping me singing as I go.

  5. Stacy says:

Hey Marty! There are so many crafts using pool noodles but I really do love the idea of using them as a base for decorating the mantle. I also had a pup at one time I named Winston!!!
