Good morning!
It’s Friday!
What have you been up to this week?
Perhaps putting up your favorite Christmas everythings?
I have.
I love seeing all my little Christmas treasures throughout the house.
Christmas joy!
So much fun for me to slide past my little treasures – whether they involve chunk or twinkle lights, framed Christmas cards perfectly positioned here and there, vintage pieces I’ve collected and, of course, my silver Christmas tree that my great aunt Jen Lou gifted me in her passing — with the round disc turning light behind it that pops in the silver of the tree – has to be at least 70 years old.
Happiness.
Isn’t it the best that Christmas lasts for a month of beautiful instead of just a single day?
I say, YES!
Super magic lineup today –

STACY’S WORLD
Christmas Joy-ful
Hello Friends!
Hard to believe Christmas is in about 3 weeks.
My family always celebrates Christmas the Sunday before Christmas Eve.
We do ours a little early … easier that way and it frees up everyone to see other family members on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
We always go out somewhere “fancy.”
Mom’s treat!
Thanks Mom!
Then we come back to my home for “fancy” desserts, beverages and gifts.
It’s always a grand time!
This year my signature fancy beverage is going to be White Christmas Punch.
PIC 1
This punch is not only beautiful and festive, but delicious as well!
It’s super easy to prepare:
Simply mix together equal parts of pineapple juice, white cranberry juice and coconut milk + lemon/lime soda.
Rum or vodka if you choose.
Smirnoff makes a marshmallow flavored vodka that I am going to have available if anyone wants to adult their drink a bit.
YUMMO!
PIC 2
If you are fortunate to have your grandmother around for the holidays, think about this:
The amazing grandmothers from the sixties and those today were the ones who knew how to live and enjoy life before you.
~ Your grandmother wore short mini-skirts, tight pants, high boots, and often went without a bra.
~ Listened to Santana, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.
~ “Rode” the Mini Cooper and the super cool bikes.
~ Smoked tobacco, drank gin and tonics, whiskey and more.
~ Attended music festivals where you sang and danced among everyone with total freedom.
~ She lived very long days because she had no internet, social networks, and didn’t care about TV, Facebook, Twitter, etc
~ Would get home at 4am and go to work the same morning.
You need to know this: You will never be as cool as your grandma was. Take care of her.
PIC 3
A lovely idea to add to your Christmas decor. Just spray paint the base of a vintage lamp and add pieces of pine.
I love the way the bases are stacked on old books.
So easy and so classy!
PIC 4
Just cool!
A few branches with beautiful Christmas ornaments dangling.

QUICK QUESTION
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS SONG?
ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT
A young man received a parrot as an early Christmas gift.
The parrot had a bad attitude and even worse vocabulary.
Every word out of the bird’s mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity.
John tried and tried to change the bird’s attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to clean up the bird’s vocabulary.
Finally, John was fed up and yelled back at the parrot.
The parrot yelled back.
John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder.
John, in desperation, threw up his hands, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer.
For a few minutes, the parrot squawked, kicked and screamed.
Then suddenly it was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute.
Fearing that he’d hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer.
The parrot calmly stepped out onto John’s outstretched arm and said, “I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I’m sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can do to correct my rude and unforgiveable behavior.”
John was stunned at the changes in the bird’s attitude.
As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird spoke very softly, “May I ask what the turkey did?”

RED WINE-POACHED PEARS
Serve these sweet, spiced treats and their accompanying syrup as a topping for vanilla ice cream or over vanilla pound cake.
INGREDIENTS
+ 6 pears (Bosc or Bartlett)
+ 3 cups red wine
+ 1/2 cup sugar
+ 2 star anise pods
+ 1 cinnamon stick
+ 10 black peppercorns
+ 3 cardamom pods
+ peel of 1/2 orange (no pith)
PREPARATION
In a large saucepan, combine all ingredients except pears.
Bring mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon until the sugar dissolves.
While the mixture is heating, peel, half and core the pears, then add to the hot poaching liquid.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
Check for tenderness with a paring knife. The pears should be just tender but not mushy when they are done.
((Large pears could take up to 25 minutes.))
Once tender, allow the pears to cool in the poaching liquid, then transfer to a container and strain in the poaching liquid. Cover, and let soak to absorb more flavor until ready to use.

GIFT
Happy Days… Christmas is here!
Loved Stacy’s selection. Whoever would think to use a vintage lamp base as an object for greenery? Ummm I can smell its fragrance now.
And then there’s your Aunt Jen’s gifting you, Cheryl, with her 70 year old “aluminium Christmas tree”. Wow! Nice! No wonder it brings a boat load of happy memories.
When I am OLD and look back on my present neighborhood, my thoughts will go to my neighbor’s front yard that has thousands of lights and dozens upon dozens of children’s story book characters all dressed in Christmas attire on nearly EVERY INCH of their small front yard. Truly, there is no room at the Inn for another piece of Christmas. It’s such a treat to us all.
Merry Christmas.
❤️❤️❤️
Happy Day, Marty –
I know, who would ever have thought to use a sprayed vintage lamp base to hold Christmas greenery? Stacy, that’s who!
And high five to “a boat load of happy memories.” Christmas does that for sure.
We sure appreciate you reading us and commenting and we feel your love.
BLESSINGS
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Little Drummer Boy is my all-time favorite Christmas song also. When we were young, my youngest brother drew me a picture of a little drummer boy and copied down all the words of the song for me. I still have that picture…
Ever cool, ever classy Stacy has done it again with her decorating and beverage ideas and her “cool” grandma thoughts. Always look forward to her columns!!!
About to get out my at-least-50-year-old ceramic Christmas tree. Won’t be Christmas without it! 😉
Happy weekend!
Thanks Carol ❤️
Hi Carol –
What a great memory about Drummer Boy song and your brother drawing a picture and writing down all the words. PLUS – that you still have the picture.
I think that soooo special cool.
Thanks, friend, for reading + commenting and spreading the love.
HO HO HO
Stacy’s punch looks delish and great idea for the wall Xmas tree and the lamp bases 👍🏻.
Yes times have changed and for the grandmas out there of this generation have some great stories and are a treasure!
The young ones of today have no idea the kind of freedoms and fun people had before all the electronics.
Merry Christmas to all the grandmas out there🎄
TY J! 🎄
