Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup with Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Good Monday morning awesome readers –
Here’s to a new week — bring it on.
Hope your weekend was full of something happy and a surprise or two.
Mine was grand.
Beginning on Friday afternoon with a wonderful S*U*R*P*R*I*S*E Valentine’s gift bag delivered at my back door from my longtime friends Carol and Toby.
The classy rose petal pink and shiny silver gift bag had red hearts tissue paper popping out from within doing a little peek-a-boo at me as I retrieved it. The presentation of the bag was, indeed, a gift all by itself. Totally made me feel special!
INSIDE: bottles of beautiful smelling bubbles for hair and body, a wonderful candle ready to light — nestled in a cool, decorative old fashioned style tub vessel. Made me want to run a bath immediately!
((Also enclosed in the gift bag was a piece of art, tucked inside an envelope, that Carol had painted – a Valentine’s Day card – so incredibly detailed of a meadow scene with a pinkish, light purple sky (could be early morning or early dusk), evergreen trees, tiny daffodils in the foreground and the silhouette of an individual walking on a path through the meadow. All masterfully positioned inside a large heart shape. Her artistry never ceases to amaze me. I am the lucky recipient of many of Carol’s original pieces of art. And now I add one more to my collection.))
After I have enjoyed the relaxation of the very last luxurious bubble slipping down the bathtub drain and the candle has flickered to its final glow, I have and will cherish this Valentine’s Day art-on-a-card and the reminder of the kindness and thoughtfulness of the gift bag delivered.
((As a longtime fan and admirer of Hallmark cards for my entire life — I can honestly say — Hallmark simply takes the backseat to Carol’s art cards. Period.))
Thanks Carol and Toby for thinking of me. I will never forget how it made my day.

BIG CITY VOCABULARY
BY JERRY CLOWER
You know us country folks in these little small towns, we ain’t let these big city folks change our vocabulary. Us country folks, if you go into a store and take something and you break the law, we call it stealing or you are a thief. In them big cities they say shoplifting. I think they are thieves.
I was listening to a big TV “narragator” giving the news in a city of about 300,000 and he said, “A gentleman this morning, in the freezing cold died of hypothermia.”
Well, I switched the TV around and got Greenwood, Mississippi. The TV station there covers about a third of that old bigun I just seen.
A fellow came on and said, “Well, I better report to you somebody done froze to death this morning.”

“WHAT LIES BEHIND YOU AND WHAT LIES IN FRONT OF YOU, PALES IN COMPARISON TO WHAT LIES INSIDE OF YOU.” Reading this quote by RALPH WALDO EMERSON just answered a question of mine. I have a friend with a haunting childhood. She’s asked if she could come for coffee with intention of talking about her childhood. My focus will be to nourish and rebuild the child inside her! know it’s possible as my mother was once one of these children. Thank you Daymaker for your help. I know there’s much ahead of us but there’s a good chance the victory flag may fly again.
That tomato soup! I want some now!!!
