Fall Apple Recipes, French Onion Soup via a Slow Cooker, Slow Motion Captures Animals in Action, Talented Man Mimics Animal Noises
Monday morning greetings –
May your coffee be strong and your Monday be fabulous!
Terrific = Fun Collection of interestings to share today.
BEGINNING WITH:
COMPILATION OF ANIMALS IN SLOW MOTION
I found this little watch quite mesmerizing.
I especially enjoyed the dogs shaking their wet heads and watching their floppy ears go back and forth and over their happy faces!
Cats drinking water took a fast second. I’d always heard that cats tongues lick backwards when they drink and with this slo-mo presentation I see it!
WHAT TO DO WITH ROSEBUSHES IN THE FALL
Perfect timing to gather all the “To-Dos” and “What-Not-To-Dos” for Winter Prep.
IDENTIFYING BRAND LOGOS
Most of the logos were easily and quickly identifiable. Only a couple stumped me. Won’t say which ones because I don’t wanna give anything away, however, tell us in the Comments if any stumped you and we’ll compare notes! I find it quite fascinating how these logo are indeed branded in our heads!
CRAZY WEIRD COLLECTIONS
Are totally Crazy + Weird to me.
I do, however, hand it to these collectors and their passions for collecting a specific something-somethings and putting said collections on display.
My 2 favorite odd winners are — erasers and bras!
How about you?
Do you happen to collect anything?
Some friends might say I collect cats. Ha!
I have 4 inside felines and quite a bit of really cool cat art — most of the art are beautiful pieces from friends and all my cats are rescues from crazy, weird places with unique back stories:
Rescue, named Streak, is from our local Wal-Mart parking lot. An odd/kinda creepy woman sat on her truck’s tailgate with a cat carrier and a handwritten sign that read “FREE KITTEN.” I approached the woman and looked inside the cat carrier and decided immediately little Streak was going home with me.
Monkey, is from a hotel parking lot where we were staying in Bossier City, LA, working on the show Salem. It was 2 days before Christmas and it was sleeting = cold. Little kitten Monkey was determined to find a better life and she followed me around as I got out of our vehicle. She had the sweetest little face and big, big eyes, and a tiny little meow. Totally adorable.
I scooped her up and took her upstairs to our room. Peter immediately said, “Yes,” slipped on his coat and went to the nearest market to gather necessary staples: cat litter, box and cat food.
She traveled home with us the next day (as the show was on holiday break for 2 weeks). We affectionately dubbed her our Bossier City Brawler because when we arrived home the other cats around here were not all that thrilled to include another cat in the family mix and were less than cool to her.
But Monkey held her ground. She’d found a home and she had been invited and she was not gonna be intimidated and give it up. ha!
Rescue Splash is from our storage unit property (actually went back to find her the next day because her charming personality was so sweet, I couldn’t get her out of my head all night long). We named her Splash because she is splashed with tri-colors on a white fur canvas and she splashed into our lives. Thank you Peter for that clever name.
The fourth Rescue was an abandoned feral kitten (by her own cat mama) in our courtyard.
Poor thing’s eyes weren’t even open yet and she cried all afternoon. I brought her inside and my sisters (who were staying with me at the time because Peter had just passed away) assisted in taking turns to nourish/nurture. Her name is Lil’ Guy because we were told by a vet that he guessed she was a he because the kitten was so young. And the name just stuck.
We – mainly Jennie – bottle fed Lil’ Guy every 4 hours with a homemade milk formula for several weeks and happy to say she’s a gas-of-a-laugh and a bit of a menace to the other cats around here because she’s a young, little feisty punk. Should have named her “Punky.”
6 BEST CARPET CLEANERS
Is valuable information!
For those of us who have or have had carpet, we all know the drill of going somewhere to rent a carpet cleaner or hire it done. Imagine if we owned our personal carpet cleaner and could do the clean-up thing as soon as the accident of spilled whatever happened. I think it’s a keeper of an idea. And surprisingly they’re not that pricey.

Slow Cooker French Onion Soup
My mom, sisters and friends are huge fans of a charming little bistro place in Sacramento called Danielle’s Creperie. And the big draw on the menu for them is specifically the French Onion Soup.
I am diggin’ the whole slow cooker approach this recipe offers. Anxious to hear via feedback from friends and family if this slow cooker recipe rivals Danielle’s Creperie! I’d settle for a close second – that’d be good enough for me. If you can’t go and get the real thing — make your own.
Mexican Chocolate and Mixed Berries Cobbler
What’s. Not. To. Get. Excited. About?
Chocolate + Berries + Cobbler in a skillet with a crown of vanilla ice cream on top of individual servings.
And it’s not a seasonal recipe as using frozen berries are thumbs up!

A DOG’S PURPOSE (FROM A 6 YEAR OLD)
Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker.
The dog’s owners, Ron and his wife Lisa and their little boy Shane were all very attached to Belker and they were all hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made the arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker’s family surrounded him.
Shane seemed so calm petting the old dog for the last time, that I was worried if he understood what was going on.
Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion.
We sat together a while after Belker’s death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animals lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane who had been listening quietly piped up, “I know why.”
Startled, we all turned to him.
What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I had never heard a more comforting explanation.
He said, “People are born so that they can learn to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?”
The six-year-old continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”
Live Simply
Love Generously
Care Deeply
Speak Kindly
Remember, if a dog was the teacher we would learn things like:
- When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
- Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
- Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
- Take naps.
- Stretch before rising.
- Run, romp and play daily.
- Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
- On warm days, stop to lie on your back in the green grass.
- On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shade tree.
- When you’re happy, dance around with your entire body.
- Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
- Be loyal.
- Never pretend to be something you’re not.
- If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
- If someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY.

Love the crockpot French Onion soup recipe! Great way to carmelize the onions!
Hey Stacy –
No doubt this fantastic crockpot way of caramelizing onions will be a game changer!
Wishing you a marvelous day.
Chile con queso – here I come! Yummy sounding! Ditto French onion soup. Perfect for winter!!!
You have a wonderful family of pets and the fact that they were rescued makes them all the more special. Lucky little felines.
So many fun articles, tidbits today. Thanks for topping the Monday!
Hi Carol –
Agree, chile con queso here I come!
Can’t wait to make it and put some chips around and do the dipping thing – one chip after another! ha
Thanks for always engaging and sharing your thoughts and fun.
GRATEFUL!
Hey, I congratulate myself on the trademarks. I knew a good deal of them. However I was shocked when I missed dear old Walmart! Those 3 little paw prints got me.
Now, Daymaker, I need clarity on the John Deer “green” not coming along until 2000. For shame for shame…. It’s been green since the beginning of time! (…I.. think!)
I’m with Stacy on the French Onion Soup. Caramelized onion with inch thick cheese is what one calls “el perfect O”.
Come on cold weather, then I’m digging out my crock pot.
Hi Marty –
I have zero clarity clue regarding John Deer “green” color. But I, too, do remember it always being “that” green.
I’m totally “in” with the caramelized onion tip too!
Have a fabulous day!
