BEGINNING WITH:

STACY’S WORLD

Stacy, once again, brings to us her innovative never-thought-of-that ideas to welcome into our individual home/world.
And, yep, I do know of the crackers and dressing she writes about.
Have been a lucky (in the know) prior to her sharing these gems today in her column.
Definitely – 2 thumbs up!  And 5 stars!

Also, totally excited to do my DIY candle and let it do its magic which Stac also writes about today.
I can almost smell it now.
Motivated!

QUICK QUESTION

What is classy to me?

Many things.
My Top 3 are:
Someone who holds the door open for me or another.
Someone who smiles genuinely for no reason at all, other than eye contact.
Someone who takes the time to help, assist, help, regardless of a seemingly tiny task.
You?

TODAY

Is elegant and relevant and I am certainly taking note of its message.
Absolutely reminds me of one of my all time favorite, beautiful hit ya in your heart songs  ** listen and watch video here**

STACY’S WORLD
TIPS AND TRICKS

Hello Daymaker Family!

Well, it’s cold in Texas which encourages the breeding ground for colds and flus.

I had a cold a few weeks ago and sure wish I’d known about this DIY candle while feeling under the weather at that time.

I recently saw this genius candle online and wanted to share it with you.

All you do is melt 3 non-scented taper candles in a pan.

After they’re melted

Pull out the wicks and add a teaspoon of Vicks VaporRub in and stir until melted.

Then simply pour this mixture

Into a glass container and add a handful of whole cloves and stir.

Place one of the wicks at the top of the candle

With a clothespin to hold your wick.
And let it harden.

Then cut your wick and Burn Away!

VaporRub has many benefits especially when it comes to respiratory issues.

Extra Bonus … this candle is also a fabulous mosquito and insect repellent and much cheaper than the expensive citronella candles.

Speaking of cold and flu season …

What’s better when you have the crud than a hot bowl of delicious soup?

This brings me to the next items I want to share with you today.

Some of you may already know that I am a huge fan of the Aldi grocery stores.
The prices there are excellent and they offer many different food options that I can’t find at other grocery stores.

A few months ago, I discovered this 3 Bean Chili Soup Mix.
The blend of spices is delicious and it contains beans, rice, tomatoes, onions and peppers and more.

This soup is seriously good!

All you do is add a can of tomato paste + 7 cups of water and simmer for 25 minutes.
Easy-Peasy.

See PIC #7

I also recently discovered these Asiago and Cheddar Cheese crisps crackers.

They are made with sourdough and have real baked cheese on the outer part of the cracker.

Sooo Good!

Last, but not least, I tried this Ginger Vinaigrette that I fell in love with at Aldi years ago.

I was so sad when they stopped carrying it for a while.
But it’s back and I stocked up.
(I seriously have like 6 bottles in my ‘fridge.)

This Vinaigrette is not shy with the ginger!
It is so chunky and flavorful.

Are the perfect little healthy meal anytime – but especially good when you have a cold and crave that nice hot bowl of soup!  Of course, I added my new favorite crackers and fresh veggies topped with Ginger Vinaigrette on the side.  Yums!

Stay warm and stay well!

QUICK QUESTION

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT WHEN
YOU HEAR THE WORD “CLASSY?”

TODAY

Today
I will be brave enough to not let any opportunity pass me by.
My only alternative is to succeed.

Today
I will invest my most valuable resource — my time — in the most transcendental work.
My life.

Today
I will spend each minute passionately to make of today a different and unique day in my life.

Today
I will defy every obstacle that appears in my way and trust that I will succeed.

Today
I will resist pessimism and will conquer the world with a smile, with the positive attitude of expecting always the best.

Today
I will make of every ordinary task a sublime expression.

Today
I will have my feet on the ground, understanding reality and the stars’ gaze to invent my future.

Today
I will take the time to be happy and will leave my footprints and my presence in the hearts of others.

Today
I invite you to begin a new season where we can dream that every thing we undertake is possible and we fulfill it with joy and dignity.

S’MORES POPCORN

This sweet and salty combo on this popcorn is a mind blower.
I got this recipe from my way back childhood friend, Jacque, whose mom, Hazel, often made it for us when Jacque, Teri, Tracey and I did the slumber party thing at their home as young teens  – watching movies and laughing ourselves silly, staying up way too late, listening to the music of BTO, Meatloaf, Elton John, Supertramp – ha!

HERE’S HOW WE MAKE IT
INGREDIENTS:

10 cups popped salted popcorn

1 cup miniature mashmallows

1 cup lightly crushed graham crackers

3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

3/4 cup sugr

1/2 cup butter

1/4 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup light corn syrup (think Karo)

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp baking soda

(( Pro Tip:  a candy thermometer is necessary for this recipe ))

NOW:

  1.  Preheat oven to 250*
  2. Line 2 large rimmed baking sheets (think large cake pans) with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  3. Toss together the popcorn, marshmallows, crushed graham crackers and chocolate chips in a large bowl.
  4. Combine sugars, butter and corn syrup in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring until the butter melts and all of the ingredients are fully doing the happy togetherness thing.
  5. Continue to boil, without stirring, until candy thermometer inserted in the mixture registers 245* (firm ball stage) about 5 minutes – maybe less, like 4 minutes.
  6. Remove the sugar mixture from the heat and stir in the salt and baking soda.
  7. Gradually poor the sugar mixture over the popcorn mixture, stirring gently with a wooden spoon until the popcorn is evenly coated.
  8. Spread all onto the prepared baking sheets.
  9. Place into the oven and bake until the sugar mixture is melted and evenly incorporated, about 20 minutes, stirring gently after the first 10 minutes.
  10. Remove from the oven and place in a cool, dry place until the chocolate is firm.  About 1 hour.

Ta-Dah!

    Wow! Where to start!

Stacy’s World fabulous as always. Candle idea is simple but sounds super effective. Soup also simple – and nourishing. A big LET’S GO to her meme re shopping and Mexican food/margaritas.

“Today” has much wisdom and food for thought.

    Great popcorn recipe and art.

    Thanks Daymaker!

  2. Marty says:

Love the idea of Vic’s Vapor candles. I have fond memories of my mother and her typical remedy for all types of sickness we her 6 children and many grandchildren might encounter.

To this day, I head for the little Vic jar. I wonder why they never offered a jumbo jar? Thank you Stacy for not only writing about Vics but including photos how to concoct our own healing laboratory.

And thank you Daymaker for the list of reminders adding to a mighty fine today.
