Top of the Morning February 26

ZODIAC SIGN HOUSE PLANTS FOR CONSIDERATION, CRAZY SUPER FAST MAN MADE OBJECTS, FONTS WITH A VOICE, ARTICHOKE PARMESAN SANDWICH RECIPE, A NEW SPIN ON FISH AND CHIPS RECIPE, STORY ON EXPERIENCE AND THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS

Mellow Monday greetings –

Shazam!   And just like that another month is about to depart the calendar for the year and March will be rolling in loud and proud.

Super cool collection of fun I found to share today – on this final Monday of February of 2024.

Beginning with:

PLANT THAT REPRESENTS ZODIAC SIGNS
If you’re thinking about adding an inside plant in  your home.  Check these out.

Mr. Clean Eraser
Has become practically a household “must have” and in case we didn’t know all the “magic” it can accomplish — Now, we do.

OMG!  The SPEED comparisons of the Fastest Man Made Objects are a white-knuckle WILD ride!  Crazy and true.

Pretty sure we’ve all heard of the AMAZON RIVER.  What I didn’t know is in the Interesting Fact about the 4,000 long Amazon River.  A tiny short read that astounding me.

ARTICHOKE PARMESAN SANDWICH
The combo is actually calling to me, “Come to, Mama.”   I totally love the backstory of its origin, as well.

CHEESE TORTELLINI CAESAR SALADYO!

CREAMY BAKED FISH on POTATO GRATIN
Happy to meet ya, another kind of version of Fish & Chips!

SMOKED SAUSAGE AND POTATO SOUP
I’m still in soup mode until it’s hotter outside than the soup in the bowl.  This recipe sounds/reads fantastic!

7 LAYER BARS
I’m pretty sure we’ve all tasted these bars at one time or another – and I can hands down say, they were love at first bite – and for whatever reason are/were just a memory.  Today, I’m bringing forth this recipe to remind us about an “oldie” but a “goodie.”

IF FONTS HAD A VOICE
Is brilliant!  I’m a HUGE fan of fonts.  I adore them.  I, personally, think fonts do have their own personality and I can name many by name.  And thanks to innovative font artists – more and more are available to play with and present unique works.

Alas, I don’t use multiple fonts here on Daymaker Readable Art — keeping it neat and tidy and cohesive.  It’s best that way.

However, coming in the very near future, there will be some super cool stuff in our shop that I feel confident you’re gonna love!  Font artwork via a journal, refrigerator check lists to print out to keep us on task in a glad kinda way, little stickers of wisdom and laugher.  Stay tuned.

IT’S CALLED EXPERIENCE
Is SPOT ON.  Whether you’re a plumber, landscaper, salesman, farmer, rancher, contractor, doctor, hair stylist, schoolroom educator, caterer, server, book store owner, mechanic, musician, coach, electrician, bus driver, painter, house cleaner, refuse collector, pool cleaner… the list goes on and on.  This little, beautiful heart story speaks volumes of wise.

I worked with a very talented sound mixer in the Film Business, Michael Haines, for years.  Michael told me once, “It takes 30 years to gain 30 years experience.  There are no short cuts.”
BOOM and HIGH 5!!!

THANKS DAYMAKERS FOR JOINING US TODAY
And giving us a piece of your Monday + engaging + sharing.  We are thankful.

IT’S CALLED EXPERIENCE
THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS

And so the story goes:

A giant ship engine failed.  The ship’s owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure out how to fix the engine.

Then, they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was young.  He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work.

He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.

Two of the ships owners were there watching this man, hoping he would know what to do.

After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer.  He gently tapped something.  Instantly, the engine lurched back to life.  He carefully put his hammer away.  The engine was fixed!

A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars.

“What?!” they exclaimed.  “He hardly did anything!”

So the owners wrote the old man a note saying, “Please send us an itemized bill.”

The man sent a bill that read:
Tapping with a hammer $2.00
Knowing where to tap $9,998.oo

IT’S NOT WHAT YOU SAY TO EVERYONE
ELSE THAT DETERMINES YOUR LIFE.  IT’S
WHAT YOU WHISPER TO YOURSELF THAT
HAS THE GREATEST POWER.

SEE YA WEDNESDAY
SAME TIME
SAME PLACE

  1. Marty says:

Re: IT’S CALLED EXPERIENCE, THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS. I think we all agree to the wisdom of those 8 words. As an example, my mom would fall into the category of the world’s best cook. “Oh, please, Harriette, I must have your recipe.” Mom would graciously write out the recipe, including specific details and hand it to the person. However, within a week the complaint would come, “I followed your recipe perfectly, but it doesn’t taste like yours.” Now what do you suppose was the problem? Clearly, Mom couldn’t sell her loving heart and years of experience. Maybe you, too, have been blessed with that type of work.

      Spot on, Marty –

Yep, loving heart and years of experience is absolutely correct.

Thanks for sharing and caring and writing your happy thoughts.

      Clap! Clap! Daymaker cheerleader.

  2. Carol says:

I’m always amazed at the many ways Mr. Clean saves the day and was delighted to add some new tips to my repertoire. Thank you!

All the recipes left my mouth watering – and I just finished lunch!

Loved the reminder that experience comes with time in grade and there are no shortcuts.

Thanks for a happy read Monday!

    • Cheryl Clarson says:

      Carol – so agree.

I actually bought another box of Mr. Clean the other day and am going to put all the tips to work. Also, might “go innovative style” a little and try a couple more not on the tips list on my own around here. Ha! Why not?

Recipes are mouthwatering and stellar in my mind, too.

Thanks! We love reading your wonderful feedback and happiness in the words you write!

      Hat tip, Daymaker Cheerleader!
