COOL FACTS ABOUT PIGEONS, BARF BAGS COLLECTORS, SPICY EDAMEME, SMOKED SALSA, PEACH COBBLER BARS, COWBOY CODE WISDOM
Greetings friends –
Here’s to a stellar start of the week!
How was your weekend?
All chill around my part of the world.
Well, it wasn’t chill per se (as in the summer temps) but was quality and happy.
Collected soooo much fun and coolness to present today.
Hoping you enjoy as I enjoyed collecting!
BEGINNING WITH:
TRUE FACTS ABOUT PIGEONS’ LESSER KNOWN SUPERPOWERS
I love this read/watch/listen.
I have always thought pigeons were pretty in their own way. But superpowers?
Turns out they do!
It also reminds me of a job a while back when working on a giant-production Texas Lottery commercial in downtown Dallas.
While camera and others were setting up for a big scene with hundreds of extras, scripted to run down the street in unison, in wild excitement — I stood on the sidewalk visiting with Art Director, Bruce Curtis, who I consider a cool, zany, exceptionally talented friend.
Pigeons were all around and I had some trail mix from Craft Service that I tossed to the birds as we chatted. They flew down and eagerly pecked up my trail mix offering. They happily pecked and ate away.
Bruce laughed, “You know pigeons are just rats with wings, right, Cheryl?”
“And? ” I smiled.
Bruce suddenly excused himself and quickly walked away — he had an improv, light bulb moment.
He approached one of his department people and dispatched her to a local store.
A short while later, just before camera was ready to roll, the art department assistant (via Bruce’s instructions) began tossing birdseed by the handfuls on the big downtown street and a hundred or more pigeons came flying in, landed and pecked at the seeds on the street.
“ROLL CAMERA!”
“ACTION!” the 1st AD yelled out on a bullhorn.
The hundred or so extras (background talent) ran down the street (as scripted) — which caused the pigeons to take a beautiful one-of-a-kind flight in front of the camera lens.
Totally made the spot — magic.
(Hadn’t been scripted for pigeons to be there and take flight — originally.)
The Director hailed Bruce as a genius for coming up with such a cool idea for the spot/shot.
I looked to Bruce from where I stood on one side of the street to where he stood on the opposite side and mouthed, “You’re welcome.”
He winked, smiled and gave a thumbs up.
WHERE HAVE ALL THE BARF BAGS GONE?
Barf bag (aka vomit bag) collectors?
Hadn’t heard of that one! Ha!
But I totally think it’s an outside-the-bag idea of a collection.
Well, here’s a wonderful little something for us to read and learn the backstory!
REAL DEAL PICS OF SOME PIECES OF BURNED OUT LIGHTING BUSINESS SIGNAGE, CREATING UNINTENDED HUMOR
These are absolutely worth a looksy. I’m totally gonna be on the look out for this kind of random humor!
LARGEST FILE CABINET!
How fabulous is this giant file cabinet monument sort of piece in Delaware?!
I totally want to go and see this original piece one day and perhaps take a sticker in hopes the powers that be might slap it on the file cabinet to add to its uniqueness!
EDITORS SHARE THEIR FAVORITE CLEANING HACKS THEY ACTUALLY SWEAR BY
I never tire of cleaning hacks!
This is a new read I stumbled across and I have plucked one or two ideas that I intend to implement around here.
Especially the toothpaste thing on white (my) tennis shoes.

PEACH COBBLER BARS
WHAT?
Peach Cobbler bars!
My family and I will tell you that my very favorite summertime fruit is peaches!
I love them – can’t get enough of them.
This recipe has my full attention.
DAVID ZINN’S
SIDEWALK ART is extraordinary and inspiring.
And I love what David shares in this short little watch –
“There’s always streaks and specks and objects on the sidewalk and if you stare at them long enough they start to show you other things they would like to be.” AND “The things I like most about about making art on the sidewalk is that it’s childish which makes it great to reconnect with that supreme confidence we all had as children …”
I so wanna grab a box of colored chalk and see what I can find on my walks each day.
COWBOY CODE COMPILATION
Is totally spot on. Regardless that these old school icon cowboys were from way back.

Loved your pigeon/birdseed story! Who knows when inspiration will strike. And just in the nick of time!
Can’t decide which of the yummy recipes to try first. But I’m thinking the smoked salsa and smoked queso – not only because they sound delicious but also because my resident grill master loves any excuse to use his smoker(s).
Gotta love the cowboy codes and David Zinn’s amazing sidewalk art – and his thoughts on creativity.
Great start to the week!
How wonderful to have a resident grill master! Sounds like a lot of great eating happens around there.
Let us know how the salsa and queso turn out.
Thanks for the share and the care!
HAPPY FACE!
