Attended and totally enjoyed the 18th annual Bastrop Empty Bowl fund raiser. Such a cool idea and event.
Here’s a little piece about it: “The popular Bastrop Empty Bowl provides attendees an opportunity to sample soups, stews and chilies by Bastrop’s best chefs in a ‘battle of the ladles’ for bragging rights. … each ticketed attendee will also take home a ceramic soup bowl, hand-decorated and designed by Bastrop ISD students and members of the community.”
I chose the bowl in the lower right hand corner that looks like it has a red hand with a big green band across it. All the soups I tasted were fantastic.
Top 2 favorites were – Jalapeno Popper Soup + Broccoli Cheese smoked Brisket soup. Yeah!

I was invited to and attended the Premier screening of DEADLAND. (click DEADLAND to see trailer) SXSW 2023 in Austin. It showed at the Paramount in Austin which is an old, beautiful, ornate classic theater.
Longtime friends from the business brought this production to life. And it’s a great show! Really good. I was totally impressed. Keep your radar up for when it comes out at a theater near you. And go see it.
The picture below is after the screening when Cast + DP + Director + Producers came out on stage and told some behind-the-scenes stories and how they personally contributed to the value and art of the film. And it was shot on film! Old school beautiful. Super cool experience for sure.

Dear Annie‘s grateful for luck and love.
Playlist is a 5 song collection of popular Irish songs. They’re pretty cool. Hope you take a little time to give it a listen! Apparently Danny Boy was played at Elvis’ funeral.

Stumbled across this thought+full quote: “Imagine if we were all magical Leprechauns and every wish ever made on a four-leaf clover obliged us to help others obtain their wishes. Now imagine if people simply lived like this were true.”
Thanks for sliding by and giving Daymaker a read + sharing with friends and family + sharing your thoughts in comments. I am grateful for one and all. Luck of the Irish to ya!
QUICK QUESTION
IF YOU COULD READ THE FUTURE … WOULD YOU?
DEAR ANNIE
BY ANNIE LANE
Grateful for Luck and Love
Dear Readers: Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Today, March 17, we remember and honor St. Patrick, the patron saint believed to have popularized Christianity in Ireland during the fifth century.
In the spirit of the occasion, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite quotes about luck from Roald Dahl: “We are all a great deal luckier than we realize; we usually get what we want — or near enough.” Today and always, may we remember just how fortunate we are for the people and blessings in our lives. However you and your circle are celebrating today, I wish you a fun and fortuitous holiday.

Hey Johnny –
Thanks and glad you enjoyed! Wishing you ‘Luck of the Irish’ throughout the year.
Appreciate you, friend, reading + commenting. You’re a Daymaker!
I’ll look forward to seeing Deadland. Loved that you were there to share in the significance of it. To answer the quick question…Nope, no, no way. I don’t want to read the future. I think we’re meant to stay in the day and experience the joy and ease the pain in this day right here. If we do that, the future will be a better one. Won’t it?
Hi Laurie –
Right on – Deadland is a powerful story and beautifully executed on screen. The passion of the project is clear visually by – by those in front of the camera and those behind the camera. Team effort! Glad you’re looking forward to seeing it at the theater.
I’m with you. Nope, I have no interest in reading the future. (Although, I’ll admit, I have wondered about the future during different times in my life.)
Totally agree that if we stay in the day, as you point out, and keep focused on the tasks of our todays … the future will be a better. Very well said, girl.
Thanks for reading + commenting with your beautiful, heart thoughts. I so appreciate you!
