Hello Daymakers! Super fun read today beginning with: LESLIE ELMAN'S POP QUIZ AND FASCINATING FACTS So intriguing learning from her facts and trivia.  More fun than watching an episode of Jeopardy. QUICK QUESTION Can I fold a fitted sheet by myself?  Not so far.  But I still give it a shot every time I pull one out of the dryer.  And when it doesn't fold properly (i.e. - I fail) --  I just kinda-sorta fold it or roll it up and place it in the linen closet and call it good.  Do any of you have a tried and true method?  I'd LOVE to know it! 18 APHORISMS Are So.Very.Relatable. and a chuckle. INSTANT KARMA Love this idea of writing down or mentally assessing my 5's each evening around bedtime.  Pretty sure it will encourage me to find the 5s every day. CREAMY POTATO-GRUYERE GRATIN Is an absolute blue ribbon winner recipe.  Without a doubt my favorite potato gratin recipe EVER.  It was Peter's, too.  I pretty much only prepare it on special occasions (like holidays or birthdays) which makes it all the more special.  I guarantee you will not be disappointed with this recipe - it's FAN-TAS-TIC!

Wednesday greetings wondrous readers of Daymaker - Presenting a fabulous read today full of fun and awe-some! Beginning with Leslie Elman's Trivia Bits in both Pop Quiz and Fascinating Stuff Of course, I've heard/read about the Frescoes style painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel - but I couldn't visualize it so I did the Google thing and found  *a pic and a little backstory *  mind blowing!  Unbelievably breathtaking. And Sailfish can travel at speeds of 68 mph.  W-H-A-T ?!! QUICK QUESTION Are you double jointed anywhere?  My pinky finger on my right hand is double jointed. I remember that my dad was double jointed on all fingers on both hands.  As a kid that was, "WOW COOL" stuff. Are you, or know someone who is? THE SCHOLAR'S 4 QUESTION TALE Is a great read.  I've been pondering - and have come up with - a couple "morals to the story" sort of thing.  I love tales that make me think beyond the story itself. FRIED CATFISH WITH JALAPENO TARTAR SAUCE Is sooooooo good.  As I wrote in the recipe, we served it at Hippie Cowboy and customers were wild about it.  Our little secret that made it unique was that we used my grandma Miller's recipe for frying trout.  It's a must-make recipe if you're a fan of fried catfish.

Wednesday greetings, all! Super fabulous read today, beginning with: QUICK QUESTION Smartest person I know?  Can't nail one specific person down right this second.  But I'm thinking.  You? POP QUIZ + FASCINATING STUFF Loads me up feeling smarter and more interesting.  Thanks to Leslie Elman. JERRY CLOWER (!) I love Jerry Clower's down-home southern humor.  Always have and always will.  Enjoy "Play Pretties" in today's episode.  It's a hoot! RECIPE Grilled cheddar cheese + Bacon -- on raisin bread.  Fantastic trio.  As far as what spread to put on the bread - I choose just straight up butter or mayo + fresh cracked pepper. TRACY BECKERMAN'S COLUMN "To All the Jeans I've Loved Before" is absolute tongue-in-cheek grins.

Hello Friends - How's the daylight saving time working out for you Day 2?  Adjusted to it all the way yet?  It takes me two or three days to adjust/embrace it all the way because I, for whatever reason, play this little game with myself -- Well, it's 12:00 but it's really 11:00 or vice versa when the fall comes and we fall back.  Weird?  I don't know - not to me anyway.  Anybody else play this Daylight Saving Game for a day or two? By the way, I'm totally late to the proper name of Daylight Saving Time.  I've always referred to it as Daylight Savings Time.  Won't anymore now that I know. Collected these today for inspiration + information + fun + and recipes worthy of a looksy. BEGINNING WITH: PHOTOS OF FORGOTTEN THINGS That will instantly be recognizable to "Boomers".  There's something bouncing around in my memory box right now wondering, Did I already put this in a previous episode months ago or were you just thinking about it, Cheryl?  Unsure - nonetheless, a fun walk down memory lane for those of us who know have earned the title of "Boomer".  My favorite take-aways from the piece were Tang (was never a big Kool-Aid fan as a kid, but I sure loved Tang), Columbia House member (hand raised here!).  Carbon paper sets for a manual typewriter - yep, used them. The entire list is a super blast from the past. PICTURES OF A FOREST PATH Well, I chose #5 because I it was really pretty and wasn't a little foreboding to me like a couple of the other path choices.  (I've probably watched or worked on too many shows where paths like those were creepy - caution tape - stuff.  Ha.)  Not sure that I agree with the "personality traits" that my choice of a forest path reveals about me... but it was a fun little quiz thing. CLEVER HUMOROUS LICENSE PLATES Were just that -- Clever and Humorous.  And, yes, while sitting in traffic I do enjoy spotting a license plate like one of these. Wednesday Greetings! Great line-up today -- Beginning with Quick Question -- What's something I do when I'm bored?  Believe it or not, I clean outside/inside of cupboards and kitchen drawers, baseboards and inside of the fridge.  I think being bored is actually productive in my world.  Ha!  You? Recipe for Sweet Salted Candid Pecans is addictive.  Make it once and then get ready to make it on REPEAT. BRIGHT NEW DAY is a reminder to us all.  Every single day of 1,440 minutes is indeed a gift. Tracy Beckerman's column Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire is, yet again, another slice-of-life, tongue-in-cheek read I can totally relate to. FASCINATING STUFF - I've not heard of St Nicholas magazine but - Faulkner, yes (!)  And Wolverines ?? And how about all the towns in our beautiful U.S. with the cool Chrismasy names?

Beginning with: CHRISTMAS TREE "HATS" Check out this funky cool pic for a lot of fun inspiration (should you be attending a Christmas event) QUICK QUESTION What used to scare me but no longer does? Me, being alone at home at night,  You? BE IN THE KNOW - NATO ALPHABET Gotta read through this A -Z alphabet!  Super fun.  All of the words that represent the letters cannot be mistaken for another because they are specific and unique being associated with their letter of the alphabet. LOVE AUDREY HEPBURN'S QUOTE A parallel of Impossible to I'm Possible! Presenting Wednesday Reader line-up.  A really great read today! QUICK QUESTION What used to scare me but no longer does? Me, being alone at home at night,  You? BE IN THE KNOW - NATO ALPHABET Gotta read through this A -Z alphabet!  Super fun.  All of the words that represent the letters cannot be mistaken for another because these words rhyme with no other. LOVE AUDREY HEPBURN'S QUOTE A parallel of Impossible to I'm Possible! LASAGNA SOUP RECIPE As I wrote, I was in the Sacramento area visiting family for Thanksgiving.  2 days after Thanksgiving my sister, Lisa, brought a Lasagna soup home from her local market, The Nugget (think Central Market or Whole Foods kind of cool ).  Lasagna soup was the bomb-a-reno! Totally enjoyed it for lunch and then leftovers zapped in the microwave around midnight when I got up craving one more bite.  Lasagna soup called out my name.  It was so good. Found this recipe which I think would be THE RECIPE or close enough.

Hello All!  Happy middle-of-the-week! Presenting Wednesday Reader with lots of thoughts and fun tucked in its words.  Enjoy! Beginning with: QUICK QUESTION Do I think my 12 year old self would think I'm cool? Gotta say, yep, to that.  Because my 12 year old self and I are still one and the same.  We evolved together and we're enjoying being our cool - whatever that is.  You? The WOLF YOU FEED Remains one of my favorite parables. Its message will be with you forever once you read it.  Kinda like one of those things that's also been said, "Can't unsee it."  Powerful. Salutations Readers and hello Monday - brand new start of a week. Hope you had just the kind of weekend you were looking for.  Did you do anything special for Veterans Day? I installed a flag holder and was able to put out the American flag that's been around here for quite a few years.  Lost the old flag holder with the fence when an ice storm took it down a year + ago.  Feels great | Looks great to have it flying in honor of this very important holiday over the weekend. To those who served, are serving and to those who are no longer with us -- "Thank you for your service."  Salute. Collected this Baker's Dozen + 1 of super awesomes for today.
